yup anything radio and short wave was v valuable to me as a driven, intelligent, seeking but isolated child.

25 years later (ie yr 2000) got cw up to 12wpm and got the full UK ticket. only ever had two QSO's ... on the day i rigged up the beautiful and wonderful TS520.... an hour later I repeatedly crashed it into the wooden floor of this house ... the tw#t i am married to gave me nothing, no praise, nothing, complete stone wall .. i went beserk. damn her. that was year 2000 .... i still often send cw to myself, but do not listen or touch anything electronic, it can with me become an overwhelming obsession ... as it was as a kid.

apart from wife non-reaction .... sending a signal seemed so alien to me .. someone said it was stage fright and like all things i've ever done was pursued in isolation .... now i prefer to read and learn, foreign languages are useful, gets u social contact.

its all true !

Yup. Has been since `88. Started age 12 with CB and got wery tired of all that P35/P2000 and playing "Bingo" that went on there in the late seventies start eighties, so killed the rig, and started on 2m and beginners licence in 87. Now has had a full cept for quite some years.
But as to qth-issues im not that active, since im not allowed to have outdoor antennas!
