Does anyone else particularly enjoy powers of 2?

When I was a kid I had to make things fit into powers of 2, so, for example, if it would normally take 3 steps to move between two places, I would take 4 smaller equal sized ones. If I had 21 peanuts, I would eat 3, then sort the remainder into 4 groups of 4.

Nowadays I'm a bit more subtle.

Does anyone else have a similar experience with numbers, and if so, which numbers?

I certainly do. If there is a stair with 15 steps I will out both my feet into a single step so I do the whole going up/down thing with a total of 16. And I memorized all powers of two up to 65536.

I also like multiples of 12. Easily divisible by 2, 3 and 4

Prime numbers, especially Mersenne primes. When I'm reading, I like to stop on a prime numbered page or before a prime numbered chapter. Powers of 3 are nice too.

I too, like to stop 'whatever' on a prime. Gonna read up on the Merseenes. Two is relative to every other number there is, so it's a type of prime that is not fun for me. Things start to be more interesting with 3s

It's interesting that you like 12s. I think I adopted 12 for situations where I was slightly over 8 and going down was not practical because of it's easy divisibility.

Also divisible by 1 and 6. 5 gets missed out. I never liked that about 12.

Well, I don't divide often for 1 or 6. I've found those I mentioned more common. And 5 is not such a big deal because I can always double it and divide by 10, and the result will have few decimals as opposed to the infinite ones I'd get if I divided by three a number that is not divisible by three. So 12 is actually easier to handle than 10.

I have always liked the number 12, for that reason. I've always thought that 12 should be the number 10 and there should be two additional digits.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, X, Y, 10

Math would be so much simpler. But no, we are stuck with 10 being the base number. Because the dumb people have to be able to count on their fingers.

I've always felt this too, though I'd obviously prefer base 16 to avoid the annoying 3. I feel any sensible numbering system should be compatible with a binary tree.

I just built my first deliberately structured relational database using a framework with an ORM.
Intersting exercise.
I learned a lot, and got a lot done on the project I'm working on.

Only took 16 hours straight to build the migrations and then set up the relations in the ORM models.
This is just the first pass through, but it's looking fairly decent so far.
