The headphone jack on my IPad is crapping out and needs to be replaced.

I have watched 2-3 YouTube videos demonstrating how to do it. I'm fairly handy with such things and am sure I can do it. But, my experience has been that it is good to get any first-hand "lessons learned" from others before jumping in. If done incorrectly the disassemble/ reassemble could be damaging.

Does anyone have any advice on this?

I'm sure that it can be done, but considering the fact that Apple engineers their products to be fairly tamper proof to begin with, not to mention the fact that the circuitry traces will be minute, I can pretty much assure that this would pose a challage to somebody who is very good with a soldering iron.

I don't mean to discourage you further, but I would not be suprised if the surface mount jack that Apple uses has a wierd/nonstandard pinout arrangement.
