Apple has finally gotten the victory to the war it started with the release of the iPhone and iOS in 2007.
Adobe has announced it will kill Flash for good this January.

Today Adobe has announced the death of Flash come January 2016.
They will still support their Flash products until 2022, for those who aren't ready to move on.

Adobe Flash Professional, will be renamed Adobe Animation CC come January.

The downfall of Flash is widely believed to be due to iPhone and iOS refusing to support Flash.

Will Android users come to the aid of Adobe and save Flash and the internet from "Apple's" HTML5 push?

Not I.

Flash makes my Droid run too slow.

As much as I resisted the war on Flash due to the fact that it's been used by so many animators, it's never been that good as a browser plugin, so I am kinda glad to see it go. Of course, I am also glad that Adobe isn't abandoning the vector animation aspect of it. Hopefully they find a way to transfer classic flash animations and games to HTML5 so that they will be preserved for future generations.

Hmm, since it appears that Adobe Animate CC is designed to handle HTML5, I wonder if it will be able to convert swf to that format.

Apple gets credit for starting the fight but the main fault for Flash's demise is Flash. It freezes up so many browsers so often.

My 'droid doesn't really like flash too much either.

Not that i like that one company pushes a type of tech out of the market, but the digital world should strive to unify their codings and techs so that it doesn't matter if you use an apple, a 'droid or a windows machine.

I don't personally like seeing apple 'win', but i do like seeing unification again.

I can't tell you how many time Adobe Flash has caused my browser to crash, how many times it has stopped responded, etc. I hope whatever replaces it works much better than Flash.

Part of the reason why Flash is in decline is also because fading in and out, drop shadows everywhere, massive gradients, glossy GUIs, and so on is a 2000s thing rather than a 2010s thing. These days, everything is minimalistic, tile-based, and uses solid (but not strong) colors.

What will happen to all the flash games? I have so many memories from them. They taught me about sex and life in general.

Flash will probarbly still stay available, as will the games, it'll just become more and more outdates as there are no more updates

Well now Flash will be turned into Animate. It is used by professional animation studios to make cartoons right now. This is good, now they can focus on the animation side of things.

Not that I'm going to countenance the backend of Flash nor complain about the visual capabilities of JS/HTML5 (they're incredible), but I find it extremely hypocritical for a company that supposedly supports the arts going to "war" against a medium. Flash worked and works awesome for lots of creative people. That's just a fact.
