I am not sure what private-key data contains. Does a private-key contain how many bitcoins you have.

Lets say wanted to record a bitcoin wallet with bitcoins on paper because paper unlike usb driver they guaranteed to work, what data would I need. I assume I would just need an address and a private-key. And using only this date I can use any client I choose in future.

The concept of virtual money is fine, but I've never seen anything where it was seriously used.

Is there something new on the horizon where virtual money is worth having?

A secret number or string of characters used to assist with the security of a transaction.

No. It is relevant only for the security aspect and knows nothing about the details of the transaction itself.

Pity the heyday of bitcoin mining is over... I sure wish I'd getting in early on that one!

But it already is being used seriously. The famous silk road uses bitcoins exclusively. Silk road is the ebay for criminals.
You can buy drugs semi automatic guns. They have a rating system just like ebay.

This would end the drug war for a start. The dug war is a famous failure but it still continues.

Im sorry.

I was thinking that your knowledge of silkroad was because you were planning on indulging in crime yourself!

Oh ... so you want to FIGHT crime.

The drug cartels did fine for decades before silkroad was created, but yes- theyve gotten hooked on the internet just like all of the rest of us have. So taking down silkroad might hobble them some.

Doubt that by itsself it would 'end the drug war'. But it would be a start.
