I've installed everything I need in Ubuntu except one thing. I can't get WMA media files to play in Amarok. I got one codec that plays all of the stuff like mp3's and mpeg's but not wma. Any Help.

I'll have to check; i've not had trouble playing anything in ubuntu, and I must have some wma files.

Installed amarok. installed mp3 support. The first WMA would not play, but the second one would. I closed amarok and exited it so it wasnt resident in memory. I navigated to my wma that did not work and right clicked, selected open with... amarok.

At this point both(and presumably all) my wma will play in it. Not sure about play lists as I dont use them.

I dont know if this will help.

You will need the unofficial packages supported by metaubuntu. Search for how to play dvd's and that will guide you to an install of the necessary codecs to play all the files you need.

Totem/movie player are the default in gnome Ubuntu anyway. Not sure about KDE though.

Is it possible that your wma are using some other codec?
