What are your favorite cult classic films that were released in the 1980s or 1990s?

'Liquid Sky' was a great satire of the Downtown Manhattan New Wave scene of the early 80s.
Martin Scorcese's 'After Hours' is another piercing look at the 80s downtown Manhattan scene

'Something Wild' is now considered a cult movie.
'Ladies and Gentleman, The Fabulous Stains'

'Dazed and Confused' is the most accurate depiction of white working to middle-class American teenagers of the mid-1970s. It was set during and just after the last day of high school in 1976. I graduated a year earlier.

Although obscure and probably not seen by many, I rented it back when it was out on VHS tape from a video store and just loved it. The entire movie was available to watch for free on YouTube recently and I begged my wife to watch with me. She lasted about thirty minutes and said she couldn't watch anymore. Too slow moving for her. I didn't think so, and the ending is great.

Transformers: The Movie (1986)
I'm a huge fan of Transformers in general, and the 1986 Transformers movie is probably one of the best. It bombed at the box office back in the day and received a lot of negative reviews from critics. It was also controversial for killing off some pretty important characters. Still, it's a very entertaining movie that has since been vindicated by the fandom, which generally prefers it over the live-action Michael Bay movies.

Star Kid (1997)
This one may be more "obscure" than "cult classic," but it's a fun movie about a shy, nerdy preteen boy finding an alien cybersuit and befriending its on-board AI. That's what hooked me, as I love me some good robots.

Iron Giant (1999)
I've seen this one mentioned in previous posts, and it's another one of those robot-centric cult classic films that I love. The Giant is just so endearing and cute, despite being a 50-foot-tall alien war machine who likes to eat cars.
