Most recently, I got inspired to watch Independence Day which has always been a film that I enjoy. Being that my brain has developed more slowly, there are lots of things in the movie that make no sense if something like that happened in real life.
1. In the film, no one notices the strange radio signal until the day of the arrivals. - NASA and other scientists who use radio telescopes would have picked up the signals. They probably would have picked those signals up years ago as well as detecting when the mother ship was headed to Earth.
2. When the ships arrived, though people were leaving, other people were continuing their lives as if nothing happened - In reality, those cities would have been on lock-down or complete evacuation
3. Astronomers would have been able to spot the strange phenomenon years in advance and probably keep and eye on the mother ship from the sky because it's better than the moon.
