Dial A Deadly Number

Episode of 'Thriller' transmitted on 1 May 1976, though IMDB gives a date in November 1975 (does this mean the episodes were released a lot earlier in the USA?).

An American visitor to the UK poses as a psychotherapist to con a disturbed woman out of her money in order to clear his debts. Needless to say, all is not as it seems, and he meets a grim end, along with several other people. I noticed one or two similarities with Hitchcock's Psycho here, but nothing prepared me for the final scene with the psychiatrist, which is a wholesale ripoff of the said film.

Five episodes of Coronation Street from late February and early March 1983.

The marriage of Ken and Deirdre Barlow is in the balance following the revelation of her affair with Mike Baldwin - but Deirdre decides to stay with Ken after some dramatic confessional scenes - this was one of the few times I've felt sympathy for Ken, and indeed for his octogenarian uncle Albert, who lives with the couple and is inadvertently caught up in the drama.

All change at the Rovers Return, where Bet Lynch departs to take care of the corner shop after its proprietor, Alf Roberts, is laid up with a bad leg injury. Suzie Birchall deputizes, and is lusted after by fellow barman Fred Gee and cabbie Jack Duckworth.

A really sexist, heteronormative episode of "Family Feud".

I hate calling out PC but seriously, the questions are ridiculously outdated.

Not to mention the sexual euphemisms in their survey answers.

Six episodes of Coronation Street from March 1983.

Brian Tilsley is at his wits end with the workload at his garage - his business partner Ron Sykes isn't prepared to do his share, and Brian accepts an offer to buy Ron out. Suzie Birchall is also driving roommate Marion round the bend with her selfish and inconsiderate behaviour. Fred Gee, another of The Street's perennial losers, like Stan Ogden and Jack Duckworth, is strung along by his latest love interest, Maureen from Warrington. Mike Baldwin teams up with a business associate to open a nightclub in the neighbourhood, but it seems certain to meet local opposition from the likes of Ken Barlow.

Hilda Ogden (to Stan Ogden): "If you don't move yourself now and then, you'll putrify yourself in that chair."

Stan: "What?"

Hilda: "Turn to stone, don't be so flippin' ignorant!"
