I've started watching the Spanish soap opera Velvet, because I'm learning Spanish. It is so addictive! And the costumes are so gorgeous as the 1950s were very stylish.

Set in the 1950s, Alberto, the son of the rich Marquez family which owns a fashion house falls in love with Ana, one of their seamstresses. His family does not approve and tries to stop them.

The latest episode is Alberto trying to keep two women happy: his fiancée, Cristina, who he has to marry for money, and Ana, who he loves. Plus lots of other romantic scandals and situations between the other employees and bosses.

Escape Route, episode of 'The Saint' from July 1967.

Templar is arrested and jailed for a £250,000 jewellery robbery in London. It's all staged with the cooperation of the police, of course, the objective being to bring to justice a gang who are charging huge sums for helping criminals escape from prison, then murdering them at sea. Templar duly obliges by infiltrating the gang, then dealing with them as only he can (socking them in the mouth).

The female lead is Wanda Ventham, mother of British actor Benedict Cumberbatch, and a fairly regular performer in this sort of TV show in the 1960s and early 70s. Roger Moore himself directed this episode, by the way.

Never have I ever on Netflix. Refreshingly different from the usual fare of teen dramas.

The Better Mousetrap, episode of 'The Saint' from 1968.

Pretty average stuff. This is set in Cannes on the French Riviera, where a gang of jewel thieves are targeting rich women in the hotels and casinos. Ho hum, anyway Templar obviously sorts things out, despite being impeded at every turn by the French police, who think he's in league with the thieves. The plot is difficult to follow at times, partly because some of the cast speak in an idiotic mock-French accent, which can be barely comprehensible.

The cast includes Ronnie Barker, who plays a clumsy, bumbling French detective.

I'm going to watch Yellowjackets after my holiday.

Locate and Destroy, an episode of 'The Saint' from 1967'.

This is set in Lima, where Templar makes the acquaintance of a rich and powerful gold mine owner. It turns out that he's been in the country for about twenty years, and that many of the paintings in his collection seem to have originated from the Cracow Art Gallery in Poland. You can no doubt guess the rest....

Fans of Doctor Who from the early 1970s would be interested to see Roger Delgado as the local police chief here. He played the role of The Master in that series until his death in a road accident in 1973.

The Desperate Diplomat, episode of 'The Saint' from October 1968.

A friend of Templar goes missing in Switzerland, having apparently stolen $750,000 of American aid money from an African country. Templar flies out there, and discovers that the real situation is rather different. Co-stars Suzan Farmer (again) as the missing man's daughter - she doesn't do an awful lot at all here. Interesting also for a brief appearance as a telephone switchboard operator by the Danish actress Yutte Stensgaard, who shot to fame two years later when starring in Hammer's Lust For A Vampire, before fading soon afterwards back into almost total obscurity.

I watched all 8 episodes of the new Netflix series Uncoupled a few days ago. It's not great but it was just funny enough to draw me in and want to keep watching. I especially liked Marcia Gay Harden's character, but I was kinda disappointed with Neil Patrick Harris' acting? I guess I haven't seen much of him before. I thought he kinda brought down the quality of a lot of scenes. Anyway, I dunno if it'll get a second season or not but I will probably watch if it does.
