A reasonable comment regarding either. Which did you mean?

I was referring to The Cloverfield Paradox

agreed

A very funny animated film with great chemistry once again between Antonio Banderas & Salma Hayek.

Frenzy (1972)

Alfred Hitchcock's penultimate film. Generally regarded as a triumph for the master of suspense, though there isn't all that much suspense in the conventional sense, as the identity of the psychopathic serial killer is clear from an early stage - it's just a question of whether he (played by Barry 'Van Der Valk' Foster) will get away with it, or whether the patsy (Jon Finch, whom I initially mistook for Oliver Reed) will be lumbered with all the blame. Quite a bit of comedy interspersed with all the dark stuff - most critics seem to think this works well, I'm not so sure...

It's a very interesting film anthology in the tone of H.P. Lovecraft in a manner of wording it.

The Barbarian (1933) - quite the adventurous love story, with lots of twists.

The Mad Ghoul (1943)

One of the lesser known Universal horror films of the 1940s, and deservedly so I'm afraid to say. A silly plot and mediocre direction mean that this cannot be redeemed to any great extent. George Zucco plays an evil professor who experiments on one of his students, turning him into a 'Jekyll and Hyde' type character in order to do his nefarious bidding. The Zucco character's ultimate aim is to gain the affections of the female lead, a singer played by Evelyn Ankers, but needless to say he fails in this objective.

I think I've seen Ankers before in one of Universal's 'mummy' films. Also stars the Turkish-Austrian actor Turhan Bey.

Young Adult, starring Charlize Theron.

"Soon after her divorce, a writer of young adult fiction returns to her home in small-town Minnesota, looking to rekindle a romance with her ex-boyfriend, who is now happily married and has a newborn daughter."

I thought this sounded like a crazy farce with a lot of running about, but in fact it's quite low key and has something to say about life.
