I started to watch a show on sky today called Funny Woman

It's really really good

It's set in the olden days in England 1964 I think and it's about a strong, smart, extremely funny and beautiful woman who is trying to make her own way in the world independently during an era where woman just weren't expected to be that way. She's also from the North West of England and she's trying to make it in London so she has the added discrimination about her northern accect

It's such a good show and the script is hilarious and the acting is so good as well. I'll look forward to watching it all

Sounds good bb. Haven't got Sky. I've just bought an Inspector Morse collection on DVD so been watching a few of those.

Born Evil: The Serial Killer And The Savior.

Very grim documentary of a convicted murderer/drug dealer who shared the same cell with a serial killer who believes said killer/dealer is Jesus, and begins to confess his murders and the locations of hidden bodies. Also interviewed are the police detectives who had interrogated this serial murderer, as well as his brother who is the only sibling not serving time for murder, and explores the allegations that their father had also been an uncaught serial killer.

Over the last week, I've watched Stranger Things on Netflix.
Seasons 1 through 4

This is the second time I've watched it. Just as enjoyable, and still impressed by the production.

Meanwhile...
Just watched episode 1 of Father, I'll Take Care of You (2016)
Another Korean series on Kocowa+. :star: Park Eun-bin.
I have procrastinated starting this, even though it features actors I've seen in other series (a curious draw to the series), because it is FIFTY episodes long. FIFTY ONE HOUR+ episodes. (It's fun to be overly dramatic)

It sounds like fun. I had to laugh when I read "It's set in the olden days in England 1964..." You're are right. Those are olden days. I have to chuckle though because these will be the olden days eventually, right? To think that in the olden days of 1964, I was waiting for The Beatles to appear on The Ed Sullivan Show.

I found it at Amazon: PBS Masterpiece: Funny Woman

"PBS" gives me hope that I can find it on the PBS web site. Thanks

And I found a trailer. (you nailed it with the year of 1964)

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (2024) on Netflix

Six episodes

Emma Myers plays Pip, a bright, inquisitive British teenager who starts investigating the murder of Andie Bell, a student 5 years in the past. Although, her body was never found. The police and the town believes her boyfriend, Salil Singh was the killer. He killed himself. Pip does not believe he was the killer. She saw the two of them the day she disappeared, and she always found Salil to be a nice person. She works with Salil's brother, Ravi, to determine what happened five years ago. She follows the maze of clues, leading to dead ends and unexpected discoveries.

I enjoyed this "Whodunnit" Mystery Thriller/Drama.

I've never read Nancy Drew books (or watched the TV series), but I imagine this is what the stories are like. It can be confusing at times, but that's me when I've been distracted. My fault.

Netflix rates it TV-MA for language, sexual violence (not explicit), smoking, and substance use. Pip does non of those things. She is a good girl, after all. :)

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
September 8, 2024 - School Lunch

John Oliver talks about J.D. Vance's innate nature of can't being weird on the campaign trail. Also, he discusses the national school lunch program in the United States that how difficult is to balance between nutrition and student's interest to eat them with a limited budget. He points out the benefits of the Universal Free Meals and the real example of it.
---
Also, related to babybird's post about Funny Woman, I found it as a streaming show on PBS.
Season 1, episode 1
It starts off with a montage and the music of Leslie Gore singing Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows

Last night we finished watching our way through Star Trek: Lower Decks, Season 4.
Last night we finished watching our way through S"Rarely going where no one has gone before."

\o/\o/\o/REALLY S T R O N G\o/R E C O M M E N D REALLY

This series exists in the same universe as the various other Star Trek series and movies and frequently references them...but you do not have to have any knowledge about the Star Trek universe to enjoy this show, the cross-references are fun but not essential material.

This show is excellent science fiction comedy! And my favorite show in the Star Trek universe.

IMDb says Season 5 is in progress. We hope to see it and many more seasons after it.

The Real Murders On Elm Street.

Documentary series of true, bizarre crimes that had occurred on "Elm Street," around the country, including a gruesome double murder that had taken place in my nearby Spokane a few years ago.
