I watched coronation Street last night for the first time in about 5 years and it was as if the story and the characters hadn't moved on at all

Dexter: Original Sin (2024)

Season 1, episode 1 - And in the Beginning...

Picks up just after where Dexter: New Blood left off. Dexter, shot, being rushed to the nearest hospital in the back of Chief Angela Bishop's squad car. In the ER, they try to save his life. Unconscious, on the table, he starts recounting his life. In case it ever comes up in trivia, Dexter Morgan was born November 1, 1971 at 23:21.

Takes place while Debra Morgan is still in high school, and Dexter is about to graduate college with as a pre-med student. Episode 1 is about his first kill.

I enjoyed it. The dialog captured everyone's personality. Deb is tossing the "F-word" around. We are introduced to the detectives that Harry Morgan works with, character from the original show. Angel Batista (same hat, same shirt), and Vince Masuka (a bit pervy with the same pervy laugh). Patrick Gibson does well capturing the look and vocal delivery created by Michael C. Hall. Same with Molly Brown's portrayal of Deb Morgan created by Jennifer Carpenter.
Christian Slater plays Harry Morgan.

Same music from Dexter. Adds continuity between the different eras of the show.

Watched on Paramount with the Showtime add-on.

Technically it is a TV-movie but it is part of the Doctor Who canon so I'll note here that last night we watched:

K-9 and Company: A Girl's Best Friend [1981]

A particularly amusing snip of the dialog:
\o/Brendan Richards: Who is the Doctor?!
\o/K-9: Affirmative.

It is a shame the intended spin-off did not materialize.

Later there were spin-offs for both Sarah Jane Smith and K-9 an unofficial spin-off.

The Village: Achiara's Secret (2015)
Streamed from KOCOWA+

First 8 episodes, of 16. Four yesterday, four today (12/17/2024).
The title link is to Wikipedia, which has a good plot summary.
IMDB categorizes it as a mystery, thriller.
I would add supernatural as well, because there is a girl, early teen, who can see the dead. Her mom can as well. Her grandmother (father's side) does not like either of them.

American Masters on PBS
Season 36, episode 8 - Groucho and Cavett (2022)

It's a documentary, but it is on the series American Masters. It can been streamed on PBS, but I watched it through over the air/terrestrial television.
