Lady in White (1988)

This post may be "deja vu" because I've seen this movie many times, usually half way into it, very rarely from the start.

First, IMDB's description

Lady in White: IMDB wrote:
An author tells the story of how, as a young boy growing up in a 1960s small town, he was haunted after witnessing the murder of a little girl.

This is a ghost story.
This is a story about serial killer, and I suspect a pedophile.
It is about a multigenerational family living together. The grandparent are immigrants.
It is a film about racial discrimination in the 1962s.
The writer and director Frank LaLoggia covers a lot, but in my opinion does it well. The young boy is age Frank LaLoggia was in 1962.
He was also the composer of the music.
The effects are dated for 1988. It is not ILM, but it find for the budget and the story telling.

I obviously like the movie, otherwise I would not have watched it (and parts of it) so many times.

What are your opinions?
My unsolicited opinion on Total Recall [1990] vs. [2012]...

...for many years the ending of [1990] bothered me a lot. It appeared to contain unrealistic departures from reality. For instance, if they pumped a planet's worth of atmosphere that quickly through an opening that size I could see no way you'd be able to lay on the ground next to the opening while it was happening—you'd be blown hundreds of miles away! But then I eventually reconciled myself to it when I realized that if it was all happening in the "dream" world, which you'd never left, then it would be quite possible. Ah-ha! If they had never left the "dream" world the movie's ending was plausible!

...and then [2012] did implausible things and it apparently happened before he went into the "dream" world. Um. [2012] is logically flawed.

Class of Nuke 'Em High (1986)
I am not the intended audience for this movie.
Who is the intended audience?
Someone around 18 to 24 year old with the emotional maturity of a fourteen year old. Or possibly someone that has smoked a lot of weed.
(contains an actual spoiler)

It is stupid, but I will say it is consistently stupid, so it must be okay.

Premise: There is a high school next store to a sloppy nuclear power plant, and two employees, who are high school students (???) grow cannabis there. Two young adults, Warren and Crissy, are both virgins, and a bit shy. But one of Warren's friends buy some the radioactive pot and makes Warren and Crissy smoke it. Sure, that's what well balanced friends do! Right? The result is Crissy gets pregnant with an mutant, which she throws up, and Warren becomes a "were mutant."

I could be wrong. It could be brilliant. But I maintain that because the actors are able to talk and it appears to be scripted, does not make it any good. Maybe I'll watch it again. It is unlikely. One the plus side, the people that are supposed to be stupid really hit the mark.

It also attempts to make school shootings a semi-funny thing, because of course the school officials are stupid.
The ending is nice because all the punks are killed by the mutant that Crissy gave birth to. Well she threw it up.
Hey! That was actually a spoiler!

The creature makeup is nice.

Not recommended for anyone under 18. Rated 'R' for the most stupid juvenal content. (Yes, I'm being judgmental)
But like I said, I'm not the intended audience.

There are a series of this film. All on Tubi TV.

Return of Nuke 'Em High Volume 1
Class of Nuke 'Em High Part II: Subhumanoid Meltdown
Class of Nuke 'Em High Part 3: The Good, the Bad and the Subhumanoid

So Volume 1, Part II, and Part 3.

Man Behind The Sun.

Story of the infamous Japanese Squadron 731 during WW2, which had committed unspeakable atrocities as medical experiments on mostly Chinese civilians. Much of this is seen through the eyes of Japanese youth corp members who were taught to see the prisoners as subhuman. Worse, the doctor in charge avoided war crimes charges, which he very much was guilty of, when he cut a deal with the US military and government.
Truly horrific and almost unwatchable for the graphic retelling of crimes against humanity, because it's all true.

The Beguiled, 1971, for Memorial Day. Quite an interesting movie. Clint Eastwood as a Union soldier who is wounded and then nursed to health by a bunch of southern females, who all fall madly in love with him. Worth a watch.

I'm glad this movie was saved.

Captain America: Brave New World.

Captain America - - formerly the Falcon, and a new Falcon, retrieve adamantium stolen from Japan, at the behest of former - now President - Thunderbolt Ross. But things have all been set into motion by an almost forgotten villain from Marvel movies past in order to have revenge on Ross for a broken promise.
First rate Marvel movie!

Ghost Writer (1989)
streamed from Tubi TV

Ghost Writer is about a movie star who dies in 1962 from an apparent suicide, but the view knows it was MURDER. Fast forward to 1989 and Angela Reid, a magazine writer, moves to her aunt's half-sister's beach house when her landlord is bringing building where she lives up to code. The house is haunted. She is not scary. She is a bit ditzy and wants Angela to help her find out what happened.

Despite sounding like it might be suspenseful dark drama, this move is nothing approaching that. I'm trying to figure out who the intended audience was for this movie. It is a light hearted fun film. The audience might be young teens, but then there is a striptease scene. Even that has this aura of silly fun. It was evidently a direct to video movie. Rated 'PG'

Last night I watched:

Chosen Survivors [1974]
<=>"1,758 Feet Underground, >½ km
<=>"1,75A Perfect World Programmed For Man's Survival,
<=>"1,758 Feet Underground, A Perfect World Programmed ForExcept For..."

Movie appears to have been low budget. But is tolerable.

Note to self: When constructing an underground nuclear war survival facility,
Note to self: make sure it is not interconnected to a cavern full of vampire bats.
Note to self: Wait a second!! Were Trump and Musk involved in the planning?!

Monsters of California (2022)
streamed on Tubi TV

Storyline: IMDB wrote:
Teenager Dallas Edwards, and his derelict friends on a quest for the meaning behind a series of mysterious, paranormal events in Southern California.

There more to it than that (above). What happened to Dallas's dad? It's a mystery. Why is Dallas's uncle being so secretive and creepy? And Richard Kind is in it, in a serious role. Should he be trusted?

The name of the teens are Dallas, Riley, Kelly, and Toe. I'm not sure about Toe's connection and acceptance of reality, nor his IQ. Every time he is behind the wheel of his car, he is smoking weed, or declares he ate six pot brownies. So one should maybe question the judgement of the other three that let him drive. But this is not that kind of universe.

This was an enjoyable film. It attempts to get deep and express something philosophically meaningful. It does okay.
It was an enjoyable film.

Event Horizon.

Still one of the greatest horror/sci-fi movies ever made.
