I also liked the show in general and disliked the ending. The speech Malcolm's mother gave him just infuriated me. But then she was always giving infuriating speeches. My daughter disliked the show because the parents disturbed her. She found it scary that a Dad could be so reckless- unlike her own very responsible Dad- and that a Mom could strive to undermine her children- unlike me who strives to be supportive. I assured her that I wouldn't be taking any parenting ideas from the show.

Malcolm at least did go to Harvard in the last episode. But inexplicably Reese became a janitor. This after spending many, many episodes showing his savant cooking skills. Why on earth wouldn't he go work in a restaurant?

I've seen the ending only once but it basically confirmed to me that they are pretty terrible parents. Funny because everything else on the show was played to be funny and I thoroughly enjoyed it but that.....just what the hell?

Yesterday I was outside waiting for a cab. We had had a blizzard just the day before and a lady walked by and said to me "Sure is a lot of snow everywhere". I wanted to say "Yeah, Einstein, there is." but not only would that have been pretty rude but I was reminded of when Malcom got his butt kicked by a boy to whom he had just explained why he once called him Einstein when it was raining and the boy said, "Hey it's raining". Though I doubt that would have happened in my case and I'm sure the lady would know who Albert was and know I was being sarcastic. :)

It used to be on a lot when i was younger, and I did watch it sometimes, but I was young and hardly remembr much of what happened. I really need to watch it all from the beginning when I get the chance now that I'm older and will understand more, and find more stuff interesting. Same with loads of other shows.

I didn't find the show very funny at all. The characters, Malcolm included, were just downright scumbags.

I beg to differ. Maybe it's just me, but I found it deeply unfunny, and sometimes outright offensive. It's like if Todd Solondz teamed up with Lars Von Trier and Harmony Korine to make a snuff film on 8 millimeter film stock and forced Nicolas Cage to watch it. This show was a nasty piece of work.

I think that was the point of the whole show.

If they're such horrible people, why should I care about them, or even laugh at the depraved stuff they do?

Ever see 8MM? That's kind of how I felt about Malcolm. It's that unpleasant for me.
