Expensive Candy (2022)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21968374/

About a poor high school teacher, over 30 and a virgin, who falls in love with a prostitute. Nicely done.

Is it normal that I have subscriptions for Netflix, Crave, and Prime, but no matter what movie I look for it's not available or else they want me to pay for it??

Found all three passwords.

The Menu - costs money
Infinity Pool - can't find it

That was my bad attempt at a joke.
My daughter had a meltdown from HELL today about her hair.
I had a meltdown a few days ago about shampoo bottles.

We're all a little crazy here in this neck of the woods. :rambo:

I'm hoping to chill out and watch something tonight, though.

Death Dimension (1978)

aka 'Freeze Bomb'

This starts off with an interesting plotline about a 'freeze bomb' that could revolutionize warfare and be a lethal acquisition for rogue states or terrorists. Unfortunately, this turns out to be just a peg on which to attach a by-the-numbers story revolving around cops and gangsters, with a fair bit of kung-fu added to the mix, and we hear little else about it. The dvd is distributed by 23rd Century productions, who seem to specialize in this sort of low grade stuff.

If I can't find a movie on a streaming platform that I have, usually I can find it on Google TV and rent it, or it'll list more services which might be free and I can use.

Last night I watched:

Invisible Agent [1942]
<=>"Today's most amazing sensation!"

Another of Universal's classic horror films. In this one the grandson of the original invisible man has some of the invisibility formula and uses it to go on a spy mission in Germany.

IMDb lists the genres as: Action, Adventure, Romance, and Science Fiction. It was done with a hint of comedy, as well.

Fun film!

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

The second one was such a bad film we hadn't bothered with the third until now. The ideas in the second are nice, just as a film it is objectively bad. This one was so much better, although still a little clunky in places. I wish I'd seen it at the cinema, now :(

I love Newt Scamander so much I might actually write to JK Rowling lol. Dumbledore said something to him and it felt like Dumbledore was talking to me and I cried. I grew up obsessed with her books and I never related to a single character on a personal level, and now I do. Also there was so much tragic love and they always end these films in a way that's bittersweet. Oh my god lol I am not ok.

I saw The Menu with Ralph Fiennes, in keeping with Recidivist's recommendation.

I loved it.

This Is Where I Leave You (2014)

IMDB wrote:
After their father passes away, four grown siblings are forced to return to their childhood home and live under the same roof for a week, along with their over-sharing mother and an assortment of spouses, exes, and might-have-beens.

I really enjoyed this movie about family and relationships.
The siblings are, oldest to youngest, Paul Altman, Tina Fey, Jason Bateman, and Adam Driver. I'm not sure of the order between Jason and Tina. They could easily be twins. Jane Fonda plays the mom. They are all excellent in their role.
I found it funny and bittersweet, and the problems and relationships are not simple.
It's not for everyone, but I enjoyed it.

I streamed the film through Netflix.

NOTE:Regarding Newt Scamander: He's one of us!, and so far is my favorite movie Autie! :)

Last night I watched:

30 Nights of Paranormal Activity with the Devil Inside the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo [2013]
<=>"Based On True Events... That May Not Have Happened"

It is just stupid fun. With emphasis on both "stupid" and "fun".

Honestly: **Recommended** Just turn your brain off before you turn the movie on!

We Have a Ghost (2023)

A family moves into a house and discovers a ghost lives there. The ghost cannot speak, and he lets the family know he cannot remember who he is or how he died. The only clues is the name Ernest on a bowling shirt he is wearing and the name June Bug. The dad then because pseudo famous because he puts video of Ernest on YouTube, or something YouTube like, and they become media sensations.

I watched this in two parts on Netflix. The first half a few weeks ago, and then finished it up today. So the stuff in the first half is a bit old in my brain. For instance, Jennifer Coolidge plays a psychic medium who comes to interact with the ghost. The ghost is played by David Harbour. He more or less has no lines.

It was written and directed by Christopher Landon.

I enjoyed it. It reminded me a bit like a Halloween scary fun mystery, like something from Goosebumps.

The Netflix descriptions says - "In this crowd-pleasing supernatural adventure comedy, a family goes viral after moving into a new home and catching a ghost on camera.
