Near also? I always thought he was just an eccentric NT genius of some sort.

But definitely L is modeled after an Aspie ... although he seems too good to be true.

L definitely seemed like an Aspie. I loved that character. Near seemed like it too, but more mildly affected. I thought it was weird when I saw a few people say the same thing about Light, because I think Light was just sociopathic to the core.

L, definitely. Near, likely. Light, definitely not. He's highly socially aware, and uses his social know-how to manipulate others. More of an ingenious sociopath than an Aspie. As for Mello, he's just a punk. An adorable, chocolate-lovin', yellow-haired punk ^_^

A discussion about this was one of the first times I'd heard of aspergers.

I've been compared to L before, though it's really only a few individual traits which I know are minor aspie things.

As far as Near goes, I do have to agree with you, Atrice, in that I don't think that he's an aspie but instead merely incredibly intelligent and anti-social. Regardless, he's one of my absolute favourite characters in the series - and the only one I've cosplayed.
