I loved this film. Adored the dance sequence.

I thought it was mildly amusing until that song and dance bit...but I don't think I've seen it in at least 20 years, so maybe I'm confusing it with another one of those '80s teen flicks. (There was a song and dance scene, right? :D )

PS: Fast Times at Ridgemont High blows it out of the water, both in terms of amusement and as a reflecting what it was like to be a teen during the 1980s. Over the top, of course, but that's why its a movie and not real life.
