The last TV show I watched was The Return, which I liked. I like FWWM [far] more than the original Twin Peaks (which might just make me an oddity), and The Return felt more like that to me (not just because it's a continuation). Good old no happy ending and trying to fix things ending up changing nothing (sorta a bleak point being made there). Mr. C and his son were probably the better characters, even if the latter had little screen time; I guess an evil man having an evil child hits that nature note (though, it would have been better if he wasn't entirely evil as his mother wasn't). Evil born from evil also seemed to be a theme that was quite heavy-handed (which was always there throughout the whole series). There was many positive things that Lynch got across all the same with some of the characters though.

That was years ago though.

Council estates in the United Kingdom are a magnet-like attraction for immigrants (this statement does not hold any intended prejudice).

I can sympathise with lowly educated racists on a human level, because they are facing immigrant people who are often violent & abusive (almost always, it is the bio-male immigrants as opposed to the bio-female immigrants who are violent & abusive, at least, physically abusive anyway).

Experiencing abuse for years on end, as a lowly educated White male on a council estate, at the hands of immigrants, makes those people hostile towards immigrants and it is understandable. Not everyone is blessed with intelligence - they literally cannot help being the way they are in their attitudes, often.

I also prefer the film and The Return to the original series. In fairness, I watched the original series about 6 times in a year, after I got the box set (old enough to have needed the VHS set). I was obsessed, but can't bear to watch it again.

I think each iteration of the show works, as they all adapt to the format (traditional series, film, whatever you want to call the third one). The film and Return are the most satisfying, though.
