One thing that has fascinated me from my formative years is the idea of time-travel itself. Now granted, we still haven't found a way to travel in time IRL (probably never, but I'm holding out hope), but that hasn't stopped TV and film producers around the world from making films about it.

So, I ask you all, what is your favorite time travel film/TV series? Mine are:

The Back to the Future trilogy. Yes, this is what got me into liking time travel in the first place; as a result of my fascination with time travel, you might say history became my favorite subject. Hard to believe the original film is over a quarter century old, but it still resonates with many to this day!

Hot Tub Time Machine. A very funny film throughout, and it's one of those films that say "<BLEEP> Destiny!" I would rewrite my past if I could do the same, and I bet you would too, if given the chance. :D

That's a very easy question. For me Doctor Who is the best time travel show ever. Doctor Who was the first sci-fi show I ever watched and I love it, I'm just sad that I have to wait till christmas now before the next episode.

The anime movie The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is good, instead of the usual go back far in time it has a character trying to fix a bunch of small things at a time.

Big fan of the series The Melancholy of Haruhi, well the first season had a time traveler, while it's sequel season and movie had time travel. It is a smart series wirh a cocktail of different themes.

When I was about 2-3 years old, there was a time-travel show called Voyagers. It hasn't aired since its original run (1982-83).

My ten favorite movies with/about time travel in no particular order (1 per series rule). A special rule for this list: both the present and the future/past must be shown in the film as part of the story not counting flashbacks/flashforwards (eliminates the Planet Of The Apes & Terminator films)

-Back To The Future
-Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
-The Time Machine (1960)
-Army Of Darkness
-Meet The Robinsons
-Source Code
-Deja Vu
-The Girl Who Lept Through TIme
-Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
-Timecop

"Star Trek:First Contact" is also one except they're still in the completely fictional future after traveling back in time. :?

Primer http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390384/

Great low budget film which brings a wonderful realism to time travel. Watch out though, it gets complicated.

Back to the Future trilogy.

@equestriatola: That's the film series that got me interested in time travel, also. 8)

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (Wish we could all study history like that. :D )

@ruveyn: I liked Sliders too. :) Stayed with it through the end, even after it "jumped the shark."

@pop_culture_ref: Still need to see Primer.

@Mummy_of_Peanut: Butterfly Effect was kind of depressing, but very well-made.

Does Donnie Darko count?

7 Days is the only time travel TV series I remember watching

Quote:
Ever wish you could live your last week all over again? Well, my name's Frank B. Parker, and I do it all the time. I work for a secret government project experimenting in time travel. Time Travel movies that come to mind~
Terminator movies
Bill & Ted movies
Back To The Future movies
Star Trek Voyage Home & First Contact
Hot Tub Time Machine
& one movie that wasn't mentioned yet~ Land Of The Lost
