I thought it was an interesting episode and moved along pretty quick. It was satisfying for at least some of the surviviors of the prison group to be reunited safely, for the moment.

I see a pattern now with the zombie scenes. They are going for new environments/scenerios to display them in, probably in an effort to prevent it from getting too stale. Last week it was smoking half-burnt zombies, and the week before that the zombies of the corn. They seem to be trying to make them scary again, and are partially successful I think. This week's hellish tunnel zombies were also a rung or two up from the standard. They are also using the old standby, jump scares, lol.

We get to see some of Eugene in this one. It is so obvious he is lying his ass off about having important information that needs to get to Washington. Is Abraham really that dense? But Eugene does provide some comic relief as the nerdy gamer.

Joe the leader of that brigand band Daryl fell in with is also featured. I thought I would hate those guys, but the Joe character is more interesting/reasonable then I expected. His comment about his rules being to prevent his guys 'going Darwin' every few hours cracked me up.

Terminus.

WTH is going on in Terminus? OK they have a fenced Train depot or 'terminal' compound and the solo milk and cookies greeter, and in the 'coming scenes from next week you hear this creepy distorted jingle about Terminus in the backround of unidentifiable unpleasant scenes (Rick looks bad). Most everyone must think its too good to be true and be expecting a nasty surprise. I haven't read any spoilers or theories and so just will wait till next week.

I was glad to see they didn't forget that Rick was part of the show, even if he was only on screen for 4 minutes.

-Finally, there are no weak characters.

-I liked that Glenn made up a story about meeting Tara to prevent Maggie from getting pissed.

-I just noticed how they are going out of their way to paint Abraham as a good guy with enlightened sexual attitudes, and respect for the rights of other people. I think he will stick around for a while.

-I like that Daryl's group demonstrates a different social system. Juxtaposing different societies is one of the opportunities of apocalyptic fiction. I hope the WD does more of it.

Definitely won't die.
-Carl is safe because it is obvious that he is in the middle of his arc. Seeing how someone grows up within the apocalypse is interesting. I expect he will survive the whole series.
-Michonne is safe because she is the shows most iconic character, and it would be terrible storytelling to kill her at this point. Aside from Carl, she is the character I most hope to survive the series.
-Abraham is safe because he's been built up too much to kill after a couple of episodes.
-Daryl is safe because he's the most popular character for women and rednecks. Start worrying about Daryl when another cool redneck joins the cast.

Who else I hope won't die.
-Carol is just getting interesting.
-Tyrese. I just like the actor that plays him.
-Beth. The only vulnerable character who we have met so far that isn't annoying. Has good interplay with Daryl.
-Rick.

Rick's not gonna die either, they're not gonna kill off the main character, so nearly all of the main cast will live.

As for Daryl's new group, I can't wait until he and Rick meet up so we can see all the blood boiling over.

I think Rick is still the key character for me. He's close enough to the 'everyman' model to relate to & its interesting to see how he changes with the bizarre circumstances. How far he stretches but still retains some decency. As far as the original group goes he has always been the anchor, though strangely none of the straggling small groups has mentioned him much if at all. They have each only thinking about their personal most important person.

I like the Maggie and Glenn characters a lot better when they are seperated and they can be themselves, as both have cool aspects. Together though they are too restrained/predictable, always worried about the other. I don't want either to die, but wish they could operate independently more.

Of the additions from Mayberry, ok, Woodbury: Tyrese, Sasha and Bob, I find all likeable, but think at least one of them won't make it to season 5.

I would guess there is a limit to how many characters can be sustained in the story. Like you can't keep on adding new and not losing old. But they have to add new it seems for interest's sake and to follow the graphic novels.

I don't like thinking about losing any of the original farm and prison group! :(

.... but they aren't really following the comics (TWD is a monthly Indy comic).
For example, in the comics Tyreese was Rick's best friend/second in command and he is the one who gets beheaded at the prison...
Abraham was sort of Tyreese's replacement... I think it will be hard to do both of those characters justice in the same show.

However, there is supposed to be a spinoff. I could see Abraham's crew and a few originals being split off for the new show. That's just pure speculation on my part.

Yeah, I have heard they aren't following the comic except in the broadest sense and that they are combining personalities and transferring things from one character to another. It's the same sort of thing you see often when a book is adapted into a screenplay.

I am looking forward to the spin-off but can't remember when it is supposed to begin, whether its 2014 or 2015.

Daryl and Merle wouldn't exist if they followed the comic right down to the letter font.

I usually don't buy comics in single issues. I wait for the collected 'trade paperbacks' that usually come out twice a year for TWD. As a result I'm usually about 6 months or a year behind on the comic story.

Right now I'm binge reading and I just made it to issue #105. The group is in the middle of dealing with their nastiest villain yet! (he makes the governor look like a pansy). Anyway, in the last few issues there have been some hugely shocking deaths... and I mean HUGE.

Kirkman is not shy about killing major characters at all. The only folks safe in the comics are really Rick and Carl (and he still maims them )... and ultimately I think Carl might be the last man standing.

Not too bad. Better than 'The Grove' - I don't think the show has yet earned the right to play a storyline like that.

Walker infested rubble was great, but can shooting a tunnel roof bring it down like that?

Will Maggie and Glenn have a little non-mopeyness after the reunion, then go back to being mopey? God, but they're mopey.

It's not that Terminus sounds too good to be true, but that 'terminus' doesn't sound good in the first place.

I like Joe. He's an interesting character, well played, and Jeff Kober looks like the long lost brother of Ron Perlman and Kris Kristofferson. Great shirt, too.

Abraham has a sense of humour. About time someone did. Remember Glenn, when he didn't just mope all the time?

I wonder how they'll end the season. Joe/Rick showdown? Get survivors back together? Dastardliness of Terminus revealed? Is Beth already there? Seems a lot of stuff to get through in about 45 minutes of screen time.

Just read some of an interview with Kirkman on the season finale. He said its going to be a real shocker. I guess I'll leave it at that.

Yes, we all probably know Terminus must be bad, but they don't have the show characters thinking that. They are approaching it too naively hopeful, it seems to me. Perhaps I don't know what it would be like in their shoes, but at the minimum I think I would be scouting it out from a distance first and not just walking in cold.

What if they all get taken captive and subsequently gunned down? That would be a shocker, though I doubt it'd happen because ALL of the main characters can't die in just one episode.

Glenn, Maggie or Beth?
