We watched Fiend Without a Face [1958] last night.

I got the Criterion Collection release. They did a wonderful job of remastering it. The picture was very clear. What I don't think is clear is why they picked that movie to put so much effort into!

I was previously unfamiliar with the movie but would now characterize it as a typical 1950s Science Fiction B-movie. Oddly, my bride--who typically avoids 1950s Science Fiction movies--liked this movie.

Last night we watched Doors [2021].

It is a science fiction anthology kind of thing. The foundation of the movie is the appearance on Earth of "doors"--which connect to who-knows-where. The "doors" are not the kind you'd build into a house but rather barndoor-sized textured constantly-moving black surfaces. The "doors" were actually a very good-looking certainly low-budget special effect.

Different parts of the movie come at the base concept separately. Each of the parts contained the seed for a potentially good, separate story. It's too bad none of the ideas were explored very far.

IMDb gives the movie a 3.3! I'm okay with that.

I do not recommend seeing the movie.

The trailer, however, is not so bad.

Swashbuckler.

Pirate film from 1976, starring Robert Shaw, James Earl Jones and Peter Boyle.

Kind of meh, it's stupid fun. Pretty cheap. Some of the dialogue, especially near the end, is hilariously bad. Homophobic portrayal of the villains is a bit bothersome.

We watched Cooties [2014] last night.
Tagline: "You are what they eat."

(Note: this is the 2014 movie about a substitute teacher in an elementary school--where bad things happen--
not the 2007 movie about a blind date--where I assume bad things happen.)

It was OK. Not great, not horrible, but OK.
