Rewatched this extremely creepy British horror film, where a disgraced puppeteer returns home to the cruel uncle who had raised him. There, he rediscovers his childhood demons which had inspired his horrific spider-boy puppet, Possum.

Loved this film. I prefer these kinds of Horrors that stay with you for a long time after.

Agreed.

What's your verdict?

It was good, but pretty confusing. I don't think I still really grasp what the f**k happened in the movie. lol

It reminded me very much of the Black Mirror episode Playtest, which in turn were both influenced by the likes of A Perchance To Dream, and An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge.

Below is the interpretation I took from Jacob's Ladder;

The idea of your last moments lasting an eternity within a spiritual context. Jacob is stuck in purgatory, and makes amends for the guilt of his son's death, that helps reunite with him in Heaven, further discovering the cause of his current predicament. Which, (in reality), he is a Soldier dying in a triage tent in Vietnam after an experimental drug turns his troop on each other, getting caught in the crossfire in the process.

It's one of my favourite movies too.

The Smallest Show On Earth (1957)

aka 'Big Time Operators', a fairly enjoyable old black and whte film about a young couple who inherit a run down cinema in a small town, and try to make a go of it. With Virginia McKenna, Leslie Philips, Margaret Rutherford and Peter Sellers.

M3gan.

Sometime in the near future, a career woman, who develops toys for a billion dollar company, finds herself having to adopt her niece who has just lost her parents. At a loss at being a mother, she introduces her niece to the newest toy in development, a realistic robot made to resemble a little girl, called M3gan. But M3gan has unforeseen developments in her programming when acclimating to the needs of a terribly traumatized child.
Very good horror/comedy.

Cocaine Bear

This film is loosely, very loosely based on a real life incident where a bear did cocaine in the '80s. From what I've read, it never killed anyone. It just devoured a lot of cocaine then died minutes later. This film takes the concept of this story and adds a crazy what if scenario. This film was stupid, BUT it was also fun. Add those two together and you got something you can watch while you turn your brain off to enjoy the insanity. I had a lot of fun watching this in the theater. It was worth it to see Ray Liotta's final film role.

An old Wheeler and Woolsey movie.

A zany pre-code comedy that would be too politically incorrect (unwoke) for modern audiences. Fun is poked at just about every racial stereotype imaginable.

Don't miss it. :wink:
