A Quiet Place: Day One (2024)

This was a very touching film. Tense and scary, yes, but the story of a young woman dying from cancer, her closest companion, a cat, until she meet a young British man that came to the U.S. to study law. As I said, it was touching.

Side note: The young man was played by Joseph Quinn. He portrayed Eddie Munson in Stranger Things. I only recognized him towards the end of the film.
The young woman is played by Lupita Nyong, who has been in several things, include the voice of Maz in Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens and many other things (of course).

The Cropsey Incident.

Found footage horror/comedy in which a group of posers on the internet, pretending to be socially conscious radicals, go out to the woods in search of a psychotic child killer. They plan on finding just some wino who they can force to pose as the killer for internet likes. Unknown to them, what they are looking for is more real than they could have imagined.

The Wickerman.

The classic horror movie, involving the British virgin cop, not the Nick Cage remake.
While it hasn't aged well, it's still entertaining. Practically a musical!

Last night we finally watched the second movie in the [2011– ] Planet of the Apes reboot film series:

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes [2014]
<=>"One last chance for peace."

Excellent.

And things are starting to not look too good for humans.

The Raven (1936 film starring Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff)

Crumb (1994 documentary about cult comic book artist Robert Crumb)

I always enjoyed the Crumb documentary. What's your verdict?

Clear Lake, WI.

A documentary maker brings the participants in cultic murders they had been involved with as teens back to the now deserted town it had all happened years prior. But are all these people deprogrammed?
Interesting horror film.

Last night I watched:

Top Secret! [1984]
<=>"Movie? What movie?"

It is OK.R.E.C.O.M.M.E.N.D.E.D. If you don't mind it being absurd.

You might be surprised to learn it has nothing at all to do with Mar-a-Lago.

Robert Crumb sure is an interesting comic book artist and was friends with another cult comic book artist, the cult comic book artist being Harvey Pekar.

Overall, a great sort-of-autobiographical film about a man who believed no one would understand him
and his just as eccentric family.

Ed Gein: Butcher Of Plainfield.

Dramatization of 1950's killer/grave robber, Ed Gein. To say liberties were taken with the historic account of Gein's crimes would be an understatement.

Candyman.

Always a classic horror film, where an urban legend turns out to be real.

Last night we watched:

The Cat from Outer Space [1978]
<=>"A close encounter of the 'furred' kind!"

OK. I admit it, I didn't pick this movie for our collection—I'm married.

And, I will also admit that, for a G-rated family movie, it was a strongly OK movie!

What I found most remarkable, however, was some of the actors they had in the cast! WOW!

Beware The Bogeyman.

Anthology horror film in which a doctor applies to a psychiatric hospital, and is given the rundown about a group of patients who each claim they had had horrific encounters with the bogeyman.
Not too terrible for such a low budget flick.

Where Are All the UFOs? (1996)
I watched this on the Story Channel on Frndly TV.
I was very interested in this topic in the 1990s. It was nice to see people of researchers I learned about from that time. I've never seen a UFO or been abducted. John Lennon had an experience, a UFO sighting, not an abduction.

Added later...

Listed as Other World on the Story Channel on Frndly TV
Leonard Nimoy narrates this show, and I could not find any information for it on IMDB under Other World.

However, it actually may be -
History's Mysteries (2011)
Season 7, episode 16 - UFOs: The First Encounters

OR it may be -
Ancient Mysteries (1997)
Season 4, episode 8 - UFOs: The First Encounters

Which is it? It is a mystery. (unless i watch it again and watch the end credits. IMDB has a different cast for both, except for Mr. Nimoy. I am unable to jump ahead to the end credits on Frndly TV's rewatch option. I know. Not too Frndly.)

(AH! It is the second title. I've placed it in bold. The first commenters are Ronald D Story and Richard L. Thompson)

Maxxxine.

Third movie in this horror trilogy. Sometime after the first film, porn actress Maxine Minx attempts to make a leap into mainstream movies. But ghosts from her violence troubled past follows her.
Pretty decent horror flick.
