Last night we watched:

Alien: Romulus [2024]
<=>"In space, no one can hear you"

This movie is very well made and reported to be between Alien and Aliens on the franchise's story line.

OK... I think they'll need a few more movies to lock that relationship in...

Right now the main indication this movie is part of that franchise is this guy:

Last night we watched:

Cat City [2023]

The movie is a documentary on how Chicago handles feral cats.

My bride chose the movie but it was about cats so I was quite willing to watch it, too.

The movie was interesting. However, I'm unclear why a short section of it looked at how feral cats are handled in Washington, DC. The movie looked almost exclusively at Chicago but, for some reason, did a very short section on DC.

For context, here is a map that tells you about driving from Chicago to DC—which is >1,000 km.

Why add DC? Just DC? It's not exactly right next door to Chicago. What about the rest of the country?!

Last night we watched:

Transformers One [2024]
<=>"Witness the origin."

My bride liked it; I was very disappointed.

I suppose that, in many respects, it was a good movie. But I think its animation was a huge letdown from the earlier movies in the franchise:
○ This movies was obviously, blatantly animated.
○ Previous movies looked like big, real metal machines were mingling with people in the real world.

I suppose that if you abandon expectations based on previous films in the franchise, it was reasonably good.

...and you meet an early Bumblebee.

Last night, in honor of Easter, I wanted to show my bride a movie with a rabbit:

Who Framed Roger Rabbit [1988]
<=>"It's the story of a man, a woman, and a rabbit in a triangle of trouble."

A GREAT film!

Red.

Australian horror movie concerning a gigantic, zombie kangaroo terrorizing the Outback. No, it isn't a great movie, but it's fun.

Last night we watched:

Red One [2024]
<*=*>"Missing cosmic force of hope and holiday cheer.
<*=*>"MissLast seen in the North Pole.
<*=*>"Missing? Please provide any information to the E.L.F."

It is a very fun Christmas movie. But we weren't streaming it or going to the theater for it so we had to wait until we had it on disk. Turns out, it is a very fun Christmas movie.

And I think its IMDb rating is way too low! I think it is a much better movie than its current rating suggests. Folk must have been expecting a serious Christmas film, or a traditional sentimental Christmas film, or a predictable the kids are having fun kind of film, etc.

It's nothing like that! It is very well made, strange, and lots of fun...

...and absolutely not to be taken seriously.

<*=+=+=*>R E C O M M E N D E D<*=+=+=*>Christmas is optional!

The Greasy Strangler.

A socially awkward nerd (Aspie?) lives with, and works for his weirdo father who conducts tours of alleged sites from disco history (they're not). And then, he meets and falls in love with an equally socially awkward woman on the tour, and finds himself competing for her affections with his very own father. Unknown to both, his father, who still dresses like it's the seventies and eats his food slathered in grease, at night covers his naked body in grease and goes out to kill people.
The acting and dialogue are purposely awful for the sake of humor. This hilarious horror/comedy is highly recommended.

St. Bernard.

Bernard, an orchestra conductor, having had received accolades for his talent since his childhood, loses his mind, and is lost in a world of grotesque delusions and hallucinations. Along the way, he finds the decaying head of a St. Bernard dog on the freeway, and so carries it along with him everywhere he goes.
Truly one of the most bizzare movies I have ever seen. If you're into weird films, then it's highly recommended!

My mom, my NT sister and I have watched this film before and it was an intense film once again.

We did like it once more.
