Dauntless: The Battle of Midway (2019)

In some ways it was a pretty good movie, but I hated the ending. The flyers from one airplane were stranded in the water. The pilot died a couple of days in and the radioman was there until the end. At the end, a PBY landed in the ocean to rescue someone and it showed the radioman swimming to the boat. When they pulled the man in, it turned out to be someone else. Neither the pilot and the radioman were ever rescued.

House of the Dragon in 4k.
A GoT prequel, the first of at least two, set a few hundred years before the events in GoT (which I've got and still not watched!).

Superb in plot, detail, casting - everything in fact. Only one point - needs more dragons!

It's okay. I wish it was longer.

RiffTrax: Treasure of the Amazon (2013)

The guys (Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett) make some justifiably fun about accents in this movie. The leading lady is British and doing a southern accent, sometimes, sort of. Donald Pleasant is sort of doing a Germany accent. I think at one point he mentions being acquainted with Adolf Hitler during the war. The guys will not let that go. In every scene he appears, they mock him by starting a story about the good old times he and Hitler had.

The movie itself was ok. It was merciless and at times gory. Stuart Whitman is in it, as is Donald Pleasant, and Ann Sidney, winner of the 1964 Miss World. She is the British actor.
There is some very partial nudity. The native women do not wear bras.
Filmed in Mexico.

Treasure of the Amazon (1985)

2012! Wow. Seems like yesterday, or five years ago, but 11 years! :) 8O

MST3K and Rifftrax makes Manos so enjoyable.

Haha, the movie was made on a bet and was considered the worst film ever made for several decades.

As an adult, the woman that played Susan wrote a book about the making of Manos. I'm still reading it.

Trivia (and you may know this): the actor that played The Master (Tom Neyman) was her real life father. He was an artist, and designed and built the sets, some of the props, and his costume. I think he did the painting of The Master and the dogs. He constructed the staff that Torgo carries around as well. She confirms that Torgo was on "medication" at the time and died at the age of 25 the same year the film was released.

One of my favorite moments is when the highway patrol is addressing the couple in the car, and the woman looks around with the most peeved expression for three or four seconds (maybe longer?) before delivering her line.

You're right, and said correctly. It was considered the worst film for several decades. Then there was Tommy Wiseau and The Room.

The Bliss of Mrs. Blossom. A cute 1968 movie, starring Shirley MacLaine.

Last night I watched:

The Day of the Triffids [1963]
<=>"From the nightmare novel that made the world shudder"

A reasonably good and very well known classic science fiction movie.

Though I think the 1981 TV miniseries is better.

The Devil Ship Pirates (1964)

A Hammer 'adventure' film, along similar lines to the earlier 'Pirates of Blood River'. A Spanish pirate ship which has been assisting the Armada in 1588 washes up on the Cornish coast, and the crew terrorizes the local inhabitants. Very predictable stuff, and the would-be invaders get their inevitable comeuppance. Stars Hammer stalwarts Christopher Lee, Michael Ripper and Suzan Farmer.
