Haywire

Excellent action movie. Good, twisty plot with some of the best fight scenes I've scene on film. I later found out that the lead actress was a professional MMA fighter. Very cool.

Arahan

Korean martial arts movie. It's your basic young-guy-gets-picked-on-finds-out-he-has-special-abilities-and-learns-martial-arts-to-fulfill-his-destiny type of film. Good mix of action and humor. I'm normally not a big fan of wire-work in martial arts movies but I think it was done better than a lot of other similar movies.

Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame

Chinese martial arts movie based (very, very, loosely) on Di Renjie, an actual person from Chinese history. Good, twisty mystery. Wire-work was a bit much, however. Still an enjoyable movie.

Kung Fu Panda and Kung Fu Panda 2

I was finally able to get KFP2 on DVD so I watched it back to back with the first one (which I also have on DVD). I think they are great movies. I've probably seen the first one at least a dozen times and I saw the second one about 1/2-dozen times when it was in the theaters last year. I think I like the sequel better.

I watched syfy's "Alice"

Pretty amazing imagination. It was decent and much better than the same creator's remake "Neverland".

Since my last post 6 days ago:

In The Loop - 7/10
American Psycho - 7/10
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - 9/10
Dogma - 7/10
Good Will Hunting - 8/10
The Karate Kid (original) - 6/10
Thor - 4/10
Paycheck - 4/10
Unbreakable - 7/10
Hallam Foe - 8/10
Submarine - 7/10

Favourite new one I watched was Hallam Foe, amazingly shot, acted and scored movie about a Scottish kid trying to find his place. Horribly awkward at times, very touching at others and darkly humorous throughout. Highly recommended if someone can track it down.

Rise of the planet of the apes
The emotional connection between a man and an intelligent ape is a beautiful thing.
I will admit to crying in certain parts of the film.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
The book was better than the film but the film was very good.
I could relate to the main character and it was a very sad film.
I cried in this film too.

The Descendants

Very good film. Kinda Oscar-baity and worthy, which isn't my style.

Yes it was. It was mostly in the point view of the horse. It has good people from every side of the war who the horse met.
And it was accutute about world war one.
