Normal attire, not cosplay.
E.g., I'm thinking about getting a shirt and tie that are the same colors as Godot's from Ace Attorney:Image

^ I would 100% support your decision. I hope this isn't too personal of an addendum, but when I was in middle school I went to a school where we wore uniforms but at the time, I would find ways to subtly dress like my favorite fictional character - in one of his outfits he wore a black turtleneck under a blazer, so I'd wear a black turtleneck under my polo, white slacks, so I dressed in khakis (that was the rule) and he would wear black socks with brown shoes, so I did as well. It was subtle enough but it meant a lot to me. You may just be taking style inspiration (unlike my more personal/comforting choice). FWIW, I think Godot is a cool character (Trials and Tribulations is one of my top fav video games, definitely my fav Phoenix Wright game).

I used to want a Starfleet uniform from the original Star Trek Series...

... but with three sleeve braids (e.g., "Commander") and in a darker blue.  Note the original "Triple Ellipse" design inside the insignia.

Now I would only look like a sixty-something creep trying to act like a kid.

:(

But I do dress like a character. Me!

I've been known to wear black flared pants with black boots because they reminded me of Star Trek. They weren't as short of course. I had one pair of boots that looked exactly like ones from the show and I could never find another after they wore out. :(

I'll admit I've gotten clothing inspiration from characters in video games before. I've actually always wanted to have a shirt similar to the one the guy in my avatar is wearing, it's my favourite outfit of his and that colour is quite nice.

I literally have an actuall Where's Wally shirt sitting near me, I saw it at the shops and thought that I could not pass up the chance to own and wear it as casual wear.

that is a very nice color of shirt. i enjoyed the hero mode of wind waker partially due to being able to wear that shirt throughout the whole game, i always preferred the look of it to the trademark green tunic.

When I beat the game and realized Hero Mode existed I was ecstatic for that very reason. Also, because you can finally understand the Hylian the Great Deku tree and Jabu are speaking. lol

I've always liked the clothes Punky Brewster used in the first season of the series.

I like Sheldon Cooper's T-shirts and T-shirts over long-sleeved, something I have copied.

Those are the ones I can think of right now.

I like Ash Ketchum's clothes.

As a kid, I'd have loved to have a Darth Vader costume.

OOPPS... became obsession long ago have components of too many costumes cannot count now ,,but all based on more vintage characters ,, but turned into Con wear and such , have helped build others outfits for Con and my own, got quite carried away, (As in John Wick 3 the robo soldiers chasing him in the final scenes ) but only con wear , collected movie props as well . Now time to give up and try to be a older version of myself as am much older now ,
Sadly ..
Periodically used to like star trek next Gen wanted to be like ? 7 of 9 .costume and all but settled with a top from early star trek series ,ensign s uniform . Lotsa Steam Punk stuff , you could get away with wearing in public.

No need for a clothes change for me because I think Jason Bourne dresses in a relatively normal way.
