Who here likes the nihilistic violent back-and-forth that is Bottom?

Bottom, for those who aren't in the now, is a series by Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson. It is about a pair of losers (with a capital L) who are at the bottom of life (hence the title). Many of the episodes revolve around their attempts to get money or sex, or cope with unexpected things in life.

I've got the feeling alternative and OWA are fans, as OWA is a "Young Ones" fan, and alternative has as an avatar Adrian Edmondson (as Vyvyan from "The Young Ones") doing the two-fingered salute with both hands (at University Challenge, no less).

I like sometimes.

Rik Mayall has recently had some good supporting roles in detective shows like Murder Rooms. (Did you know he could do drama?)

Not really, and while I personally love him at comic best, it is as pleasant a surprise as it is to see Hugh Laurie as Dr House.

My favourite fight scene is the one in "Culture". Extended, violent, and the look on Rik Mayall's face when he gets the table overturned onto his feet is absolutely priceless!

I loved Bottom when I was a child. Oh, the joys of watching Richie and Eddie beat the s**t out of each other every single week. I watch the episodes over and over again on TV. I've seen the 'live' shows and they aren't nearly as good as the three series. The later 'live' series are simply not funny, and are in fact quite embarrassing - would you like to watch two middle-aged men just swearing all the time? Frankly, after about five minutes, it gets rather boring.

I haven't seen that for years, i used to watch it as a kid with my Dad when Mum was at work, i probably didn't get some of the humour, but i still found it funny.
I think they repeat it on one of the UK TV channels.

Richie: That's it! What about "pin the tail on the donkey"?
Eddie: We haven't got a donkey.
Richie: Well, ah, "pin the tail on the chicken".
Eddie: We haven't got a tail.
Richie: Oh. Well, "pin the sausage on the chicken".
Eddie: We haven't got a chicken.
Richie: Well... "pin the sausage on the fridge"!
Eddie: Or a pin.
Richie: "Sellotape a sausage to the fridge"!
Eddie: We haven't got a sausage!
Richie: "PUT A BIT OF SELLOTAPE ON THE FRRIDGE"! !
Eddie: ... Not much of a game, is it?

Hahaha... I love Rik and Ade, though I liked The Young Ones slightly more than Bottom. Still need to get Filthy, Rich and Catflap on DVD (only seen the first episode so far).
