I love Peter Capaldi! I have Scottish roots, so the 12th doctor stood out to me for being Scottish! Not being English! His run was brilliant!
David Tennant is Scottish, so Capaldi wasn't the first Scottish actor to play the Doctor. However Tennant can talk like an English person and Capaldi can't.

Alright favorite companions and episodes of each Doctor.
1. Ian, the Aztecs 2. Jamie, Web of Fear 3. Jo Grant, Carnival of Monsters 4. Leela, Genesis of the Daleks 5. Tegan, Kinda 6. Peri, Vengeance on Varos 7. Ace, Greatest Show in the Galaxy 8. Lucy Miller ( Big Finish Audio), Doctor Who the Movie War Doctor. Cinder (Novel companion), Engines of War (Novel)
9. Rose, Dalek 10. Donna, Blink 11. Amy, Cold War 12. Bill, Flatline 13. Ryan, Rosa
I did like Chistopher Eccleston and wished he did more but it is probably a tie between him and David Tennant. I enjoyed Peter Capaldi's portrayal of the Doctor but the stories were not as exciting. However, I did enjoy it when he castigated Clara for having annoyingly inflating eyes as I found her incredibly annoying! Donna was probably the best companion as their relationship was never full of flirty banter which seemed to be tiresomely used with other companions.

It's funny you should say that Limmy did a bit on his live stream about how English Capaldi sounds to a pure dead Glaswegian.
