I've never watched star trek. But I do want to give it a try. Where is the best series or movie to start with it?

Awesome! If you like Sci-Fi I think you will like it! Sorry for the late reply. I saw your post last night and tried to get on last night but the site was slow. That's a good question on which series to start! If you want to start chronologically "The Original Series" is good to watch first. You could really start with any series though since the characters in each show are stand alone ones that aren't related. Star Trek: The Next Generation is a great series to watch first as well. It starts off 100 years after the Original Series. You get a good sense though of the world as the series progresses and you don't really need to see "The Original Series" to follow it. It does help though to provide more background and context.

I started out watching Star Trek: The Next Generation when I was younger and then watched "The Original Series" as my Uncle is a huge Star Trek fan and got me interested. I then started watching all the Star Trek movies. The first one I seen was "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" which was made in 1979. That movie follows the crew from "The Original Series". There is 6 Star Trek movies featuring "The Original Series" crew. The movie after Star Trek VI is Star Trek: Generations which has Captain Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation in it. There are three movies following this one that star Captain Picard and the crew of "The Next Generation"

It is a huge series and world that the show has. Besides Star Trek: The Next Generation there is Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise (this series takes place chronologically 100 years before "The Original Series). All of these shows were made in the late 90's and early 2000's. The new series that is currently out "Strange New Worlds" takes place chronologically before "The Original Series". I hope this isn't too much information maybe

that's really helpful thank you!
I've decided to start on the original series to get caught up on on the star trek universe lore.

No problem and that's a great place to start :) Hope you enjoy it!

Cool scene from Deep Space Nine. The Dominion war episodes were awesome. They are some of the best Star Trek episodes of the series. It shows Starfleet in a war setting. It was a much darker period for the Federation.

Such a beautiful opening. When I seen the rerelease in theatres 6 years ago for the 40th anniversary. I got chills when I heard it on the big screen. It was an incredible experience seeing it and hope they rerelease it again in theatres someday.

well my favorite captain is Picard, He always does the right thing even if he has to disobey the prime directive.

I love Captain Picard too and love Captain Kirk so it's hard for me to choose sometimes. I love how Captain Picard always does the right thing too! He stands on his principles no matter what. The speech he gave in the episode where he said "A lie of omission is still a lie" always stuck with me.

Love this episode. it's one of the most unique episodes in Star Trek I've seen and the music is creepy and cool. From the episode "Time Squared"

I always loved this scene from "Star Trek: The Motion Picture". The movie is a work of art in so many ways. I love the costume designs, the Enterprise redesign, the music, the concept of V'Ger. I also love how Spock's character really came full circle here with his Human/Vulcan inner conflict.
