Last week-end, I rented Martian Child, a movie about a "strange" kid who is saying he came from Mars. He may have a post traumatic shock of being abandonned by his parents but his behaviour is fully in the Autistic spectrum.

"wrong planet" and "I come from Mars" say the same thing. Rent this movie and watch it, it's very interesting as an AS!! !

Anyone saw it?

I've been thinking of seeing it. I saw the trailer. Actually, I saw the title and sung "martian child...martian child...lying here...martian child...comes from mars...not from here...martian child...good at...cooking" and then I watched the trailer.

I've read the book.
It's supposedly a memoir of David Gerrold adopting his son.

Was the book any good?

I have seen the film, the end ruined it a bit, too romantic. Certain parts were a bit fast, like gaining the trust of the boy. Rest was quite good.

I thought it was amazing in so many ways. I thought the special features were interesting as well, because they profile the author of the short story it was based on, who based the story on real events, I won't go into it or I'll ruin the plot for people. Its a great story about patience and love and healing that isn’t too preachy and remains very original and funny. I thought it was very nuanced and beautiful, the cinematography as well. It was also shot only a few blocks away from where I live, where a lot of science fiction I love is shot for some reason. Everything I love was squished into this movie.... planetariums, science fiction, writers and the writers life, m & m's, snails, harmless eccentricity...

It was maybe like the Aspergers version of "About a Boy", well not really but I couldn't help but think of the other movie a bit, I also really enjoyed that one.
