I've got a variety of interests/obsessions, and this seems like the forum section to babble on about said interests. If you have the same interest, please contribute, if this is new to you, check it out if you like.

I love a wide variety of movies, but have focused on certain areas, Asian cinema being one. Some of these movies are a little messed up, so I'd warn the light of heart and weak of stomach to generally stay away (you might also want to exit this thread if scary pictures will bug you, you have been warned). Asian cinema is great because the stories and concepts are generally much more complex and interesting (or disturbing). They are more effective at melding the visual and the auditory. Generally the editing is dynamic and interesting (as opposed to the simple cut/paste or ZOMG CGI!!1!~). There are some aspects most people won't like though. The continuity can be kinda funky and sometimes you can get characters mixed up (that's not saying all Asian folk look alike, just the the character development can be missing sometimes). Regardless, I really enjoy these movies and here we go.

Think a militarized Lord of the Flies. It's probably a tie between this and my second selection for my favorite film of the genre. It's not a tremendously good movie, but the concept is interesting and a lot of the scenes are just downright cool.

This movie will throw you for a loop at least 3 times (probably more like 20). The editing in this is some of the best work I've ever seen. The mixture of music throughout is somewhat hypnotic. Overall it's pretty messed up, a few of the scenes are pretty intense and graphic. However, one scene in particular, we'll call it the "long corridor" scene is just absolutely epic.

I've watched this something like 5 times and I still don't really understand all of it. It's rather disturbing, but generally not in a graphic sense (save for a few particular scenes). The goth impostor is awesome. There's a pseudo-sequel to this, but I'll touch on that later.

All three of those movies are amazing!
Suicide club rocks.
Battle Royale rules.
Oldboy rapes.
End of story.
