Of all the times Homer
has choked Bart on the show,
how come he hasn't killed him yet?

If you don't know what I'm talking about,
Homer goes "Why you little!" and starts to choke Bart.

Perhaps he's not choking him hard enough?

I think that if all the things that happened to the Simpsons happened in reality, they would all be dead by now.

Because it's a cartoon ?

Not forgetting little Maggie is still the same age for god knows how many years ...

Frank Grimes: "That irresponsible oaf? (Homer) A man who, by all rights, should have been killed dozens of times by now?"

Lenny: "Uh, 316 times by my count."

A number of characters have cheated death like in the episode "Homer The Smithers", Mr. Burns fell out a window in his office and survived, but when Maude Flanders fell off the bleachers at a race car speedway, she died. Not to mention they made a number of other mistakes on the show. Mistakes that involve animation and the kind of mistakes they don't expect you to think about. Other mistakes are things that appear out of nowhere and never mentioned again after one episode like that house that the first George Bush lived in for a short time when he fought with Homer.

Indeed. The same seems to go for all the other characters. Is this intentional, or one of those things they don't expect you to think about?

They're aware of it, and reference it, on DVD commenatries and everything. Bart, if you take his original birthday, is like 31 years old now. If you just take the first episode of the show, he's 21!

You are in a strong urge to watch that episode called "Homer's enemy"

In theory, Homer has a very weak grip.

To paraphrase Mystery Science Theater 3000: It's just a show, you should really relax.

Or, indeed:

'Uh, in episode 1F02, Itchy rips open Scratchy's chest and plays his ribs like a xylophone. He hits the same rib twice in succession and produces two clearly different tones. What's up with that? Man, I hope someone got fired for that blunder!'

Because Bart enjoys it...

Or when Itchy pulled out Scratchy's lungs and played them like a bagpipe. In the next screen, the cat was breathing comfortably.
