My favorite scene was the Alien parody with John Hurt reprising his Alien role.

Spaceballs.

Absoultely brilliant. It's just another great satire by Brooks, who is the master of satire IMO.

Spaceballs is one of Mel Brook's better parodies, but that isn't saying much. I used to love this movie and laugh at it all the time, but when I sat down again to watch it some time ago, it wasn't half as good as I remembered it being. About half of the time the movie was funny while the rest of it was tedious. I think as the years go by I've distanced myself from screwball comedies/parodies simply because they are one-trick ponies that rely on references, gags, and silly names rather than characters or situations. Of course, I don't laugh too much at old Bob Hope movies either (my dad thinks they're the greatest thing in the world). The Marx Brothers make me laugh, but they are wise enough not to overburden themselves with unfunny filler material. In general, the movies I find funniest contain satire and absurdity, but they also have at their center well-rounded characters with believable motivations.

I like Spaceballs a lot, but it's not my favourite Mel Brooks movie. My favourite is History of the World, Part 1.

Both Spaceballs and History of the World are absolutely hilarious movies. I love them both, along with Robin Hood: Men in Tights.

I'm a big Mel Brooks fan but I've never seen it.

I really love The Producers (original 1968 version)

and Young Frankenstein with Gene Wilder and Marty Felman.

Oh have you guys seen "Silent Movie" ?

Man, that was good.

I only watched The History of the world only a half. I liked it.

And Blazzing Saddles I own but I only seen half of that one too. It was okay too.

I absolutely adore it; it's one of my top favorites. The worst thing I can say about it is that I've seen it way too many times.

What comes in second for me (as far as Mel Brooks comedies go--or really as far as pure comedies go period) is "Robin Hood: Men in Tights."

"History of the World: Part One" has some pretty great moments, though.
