I agree with toadsnail, its likely that your own avatar will influence how and 'why' you talk and respond as you do. Self imaging is core to your everything.

Mine is from a favorite sculptor I found online, Hsu Tung Han:

It is more like the "chicken or egg" conundrum, in that it is equally likely that how and 'why' you talk and respond as you do will influence your choice of avatar.

i guess i talk and respond as a shabby santy claus. if i had chosen "abby normal" (my username on other sites) instead, with a picture of igor, i think i'd respond similarly, but mebbe with more dark humor.

LOL!  If you were "Abby Normal" here, your avatar would either be a brain in a jar or this fine-looking fellow...

Something interesting I noticed when I first signed up here is that when I had my icon as a character that was from a more cartoony game in the series, people didn't respond to me that much. I tried changing it to the same character from another game, which wasn't as cartoony, and people actually responded to me a lot more, even though I didn't change anything about the way I post.

Kinda sucks because I use the first icon everywhere else. I even was skeptical of changing my icon to this one after that. lol

AGREED! This is an interesting thread. I'm enjoying it and learning stuff.

And the sculpture in cberg's post is incredible!

My husband spotted it on the PC monitor from across the room and asked what it was, it is cool.

Hsu Tung Han's work (cberg) reminds me of Lego artist Nathan Sawaya

I used to have an account on here years ago but I'm locked out of it now, and (rather weirdly for me) Natural Plastic uses the Andy Capp avatar I used to use, by complete coincidence AFAIK. So I chose a different Andy Capp picture that isn't too similar.

I'm not even a mad Andy Capp fan but it seems an appropriate avatar. He looks like he's rushing to make a point.

I picked the planet Mars
My avatar comes from the planet Mars. It is the DC comic character Martian Manhunter. I choice him because he is was the only martian on earth and used his shape shifting powers to mask his difference and blend in with the local humans. Just like me.

Apart from super strength, ability to fly, telepathy powers, green skin and muscular physique we are exactly alike.

Martian Manhunter - very cool. I remember one issue where he disguised himself as Superman. The bad guys tried to use kryptonite on him. He first turned it into lead - then he ate it.

I like anything to do with Mars.
