Hello all,

I’m hold_sway, or L.

As a teenager, I was a member of WP (mid-00s) prior to my gender transition under my old name. I decided to leave the board because I was convinced I was wrong about myself and went about life pretending I wasn’t autistic. But after 15 years of masking I am finally accepting my status as an autistic person and working toward neuropsych evaluations after both my psychiatrist and therapist have strongly urged me to consider it.

I’m non-binary transmasculine, and I think one of the reasons it was hard for me to get a diagnosis was because I was socialized as a girl. However, I was hyperlexic as a small child, have been dyspraxic ever since I can remember, and stimmed regularly as a kid. I do still sometimes, of course.

I’m just shy of 32 years old. My primary interests are poetry and music, but some of my more narrow interests and restrictions at the moment include dressing monochromatically and card/chance games. I live in the northeastern United States with my significant other, who is not autistic, and our cat. I work in instructional design.

I’m eager to make friends but a bit shy. Are there any other poets here?
