When were you diagnosed? At age seventeen.

Favorite subjects: I rocked Public Speaking, before I dropped out of high school. My teachers in SPED used to joke that I was "the next Temple Grandin."

Why are you here?

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):
I was diagnosed with ADD symptomatic when I was 7 1/2. Last May I was diagnosed with ASD.
I also have a speech impediment, I don't know what it's called, and I went to speech therapy when I was in elementary school.

I like to listen to playlists. My favorites are the playlists by Stephanie Meyer, and A Hazy Shade of Winter.

Books:
Fiction, my favorite genre is Fantasy. Also I like to read Manga.

Bones, Pushing Daisies, Lie to Me, Phineas & Ferb, Dollhouse and others.

Plans for the future? To achieve a better understanding of myself, my condition, my areas of challenge and my unique abilities.

Any comments? Growing up in the 60s and 70s, I didn’t have the benefit (or limitations) of an autistic/Asperger’s diagnosis. My teachers merely labeled me a “day dreamer” and a child who “marched to the beat of a different drum”. While I have been aware of my areas of challenge most of my life, it wasn’t until High School that teachers began noticing and encouraging my abilities. This was a turning point in my life and allowed me to realize that by focusing on my strengths instead of my limitations, I could excel. I now own and operate my own business and have achieved a level of success and notoriety in my chosen field; however, I can’t help but wonder how my life may have been different had I been diagnosed as a child and offered the insight and support that I lacked.
