Hi, everyone! :)

I was in northern NSW, & I'm now based in Sydney around the inner west. I do head up north regularly too.

I told syzygyish & the others who were on the meet (I did a phone-in toward the end :D
) that I'd do a post in this thread so they could put together who they were talking to.
It's taken ages but here it is.

Good to see some other Sydney-siders here - CobaltBlew, is that NZ in your profile pic?

Brennan I posted in a thread with you already I think, but .. I just wanted to know if you are actuallly named after who I think you're named after?
I'm studying Forensics (& some other stuff) at the moment ..

hope the uni is going well. All good here. We had a very good womens AS retreat in Brisbane on the weekend. It was quiet and peaceful and enriching and good for me and for others.

^ hi, millie. yes I hope we'll speak soon, heh heh. I am rather missing everyone, though uni is good and I  the work so much.

I will be visiting in early April ! ! Up for the week of Easter (just for the chocolate - no .. only kidding. My need for chocolate seems to have decreased since I found out about AS and how to manage my anxiety better) :)

Glad to hear about the retreat, it sounds very excellent.

Hello and Welcome to all the far flung aspies strewn all over Aussie!
:D

I have been thinking for a long time that this thread shouldn't just be a 'Shout-Out' for 'I am here' but that we should actually engage in conversation about ... stuff !
 I don't want to lead the conversation about my obsessions...
I will let the next poster do that!

As an Australian, what concerns do you think most need to be discussed in this thread?

hi syzygyish! :D How are you?

I'm not afraid to post. I've grown quite vocal over the general internet.
8O

I've been having some discussions recently with some other aspies - mainly relating to workplace conditions and equity for people with Asperger's who deserve but may not be getting fair conditions they can work comfortably in, at their workplace.

But .. not to turn it into an activist or political thread ..

I also think that services are a great thing to talk about. My son was diagnosed with Asperger's by a paediatrician and I basically found no one who could help!

This happened some years ago. Perhaps things are changing? I don't know.

I've also been in Sydney recently.

Does anyone have specialists or services in Sydney they know of?

Does anyone know about any other good services in Australia? What do people think (yep honestly) about services available here?

Of course, from what I know Minds and Hearts in Brisbane are excellent. I'm planning on attending their Emotion Management session soon.
i'm interested in emotion and anxiety management 8)

Hi All! :)

I am an Italian Aussie and am relatively new to Wrong Planet.

I have four children, 3 boys ages 17, 15 & 13 and a girl aged 9. They rock my world!

My husband and I have been married for 17 years and I'm just starting to get the hang of this marriage business..I think...well we're content...we give each other lots of space.

I'm totally loving this Wrong Planet site...where has it been all my life!

I personally Live in Kansas The Central most State of The United States of America. (BTW if you guys want to hate on America Don't drag me into the mud with it I'm not exactly proud of my country)

Just wanted to say hello. I am told it is right thing to do.
I'm near Brisbane, Qld.
Absolutely no autism or asperger's support here.
Hearts and Minds in Brisbane is just too expensive for me. I can't even afford the trip there.
I'm of that age where I fall through the gaps of services.
Why do people think that because I can communicate that everything else is okay?
Is it that neurotypicals think that the only symptom of autism is lack of communication?
A word of advice from someone who has been hitting her head up against the brick wall for longer than most of you have been alive (I'm guessing). Go independant! Surf the net, phone everyone, ask questions and do it all yourself. When it gets too much, don't despare. Just go hermit for awhile. Aspies are good hermits. After 40 years of research, doctors, etc, everything good in my life, every progress I have made has been by my own efforts. Everyone I have reached out for help to has only every hindered me.
I never assume that whoever I am talking to has understood anything I have said or that I have understood anything they have said.
Autism (Asperger's, high or low functioning) is a totally different culture. That's right, a culture not a disease.
