I'm new here, obviously, residing in south Texas. I'm of the middle-aged persuasion and have been looking for resources for my 7-year old son as well as myself. We took our son to a psychologist at age 5 to have him tested for AS. The psychologist wasn't very helpful, but she stated that he definitely fell in the PDD group. She refused to diagnose further due to the DSM changes and basically told us to come back the next year. We had already done our homework and knew what we were looking at. What surprised me most was how much I also identified with the stereotypical characteristics. So, while not officially diagnosed, I am comfortable saying that we both identify as AS.

I have a very limited social life due to my unique ability to confound, confuse, and infuriate those I choose to interact with. My online presence is just as sparse. I have found that over 90% of forum posts that I submit end up ending the thread. I think I know everything and this has been confirmed by many, many people. I have fewer than 25 Facebook friends. I unfriended over 200 for the simple fact that every time I posted something, it started an argument.

It only took about five minutes of reading posts here to realize that my son and I are also living on the wrong planet. Not sure if I can provide meaningful conversation here, but I definitely can benefit from the shared experiences I am seeing.
