I am a NT mom of a 26 year old Aspie. He is very socially phobic and so tends to isolate. He has no friends. He is an accomplished musician, who performs at open mics and also some shows here in the Orlando area. But, he is struggling. Is it appropriate for me to ask if any of the other Aspies on this site are from the Orlando area? I feel that my son is in desperate need of friends, if he is to continue moving forward, rather than slipping back like he is now.
HELP!

there is nothing wrong with such a request to find other aspies in your area. i would recommend a topic that includes the location in the title, particularly in the Social Skills and Making Friends forum:

Sadly, I can't help you physically, but you have all my support.

As hyperlexian said above, try the others forums, and try to open a thread to encounter others Aspies from Orlando area.

It's not easy to be socially phobic. Why don't show him WP ? If he see the progression of others Aspies, if he could train his social skill and knowledges... may it can help him ?
