When I made an account it took me awhile to figure out how to properly add an avatar. lol

If you go to "My Account" via the forums you can edit your avatar either by going to "Edit profile" or "Edit avatar". Go to "Edit avatar" and use an icon you've cropped/resized to fit the 130 by 160 pixels limit. If you do it via "Edit profile" it doesn't change anything for some reason.
