Hi all , im a mum with two daughters with aspergers one 21 the other 23 . The younger one was diagnosed at 6 and the eldest at 21 - and what a difference in going through the system as an adult ... much easier and simpler !

I have found that there is support out there but you tend to find it and it tends to get offered when you really cant take it anymore ! ! My daughters have been quite lucky - the both live independently now and im a carer for the youngest.

Ive joined today as many years ago i was a member - different set up then on the forum ...I actually met a family on here and we all went on holiday together ! it was the best and worse holiday we have ever had ! !! we are still friends today .

Im hoping there will be answer to some problems and also members with ideas - my daughters still need help and im a great believer in trying my hardest to get it for them and making there lives better.

well hope to speak to you all soon x

The nice, countrified bit or the gritty, urban bit? :)

I'm often over in the western end of North Yorkshire (and parts of West Yorkshire) as it's fairly easy to get to from my part of Lancashire.

And the trick that someone referred to? You might already have spotted it but it was to do with language - i.e. "holiday" is very much a British/Irish expression, not one used elsewhere.

Oh i live in west leeds actually - classed as west yorkshire ! i spent my childhood holidays in Lancashire - Nelson and Gisburn campsite ! loved it !
West Leeds is very close to the Dales - they call it the gateway to the Dales- just venture a few miles and its all countryside.

You must live near this side then as Lancs and Dales access is very easy with skipton nearby. - well im guessing you are lol .

OK then. It's about 90 minutes' drive from me. I haven't been to Leeds in years though. :)

Gisburn is a nice area - just over 20 miles. I live in a small rural Ribble Valley town near Preston.

Some shots from my local area:

OK, that's enough - promise I'll stop spamming the thread with my photos. :)

I know Skipton fairly well and, as I say, it's quite easy to get to from here. I take it that west Leeds is fairly suburban then? :)

If it helps, I live about 25 miles away from the border with West Yorkshire near Portsmouth at Todmorden and about 25/26 miles away from the border at West Marton near Skipton in North Yorkshire.

Beautiful pictures , looks very much like Gisburn ! Yes im quite near the edge , 5 minutes in the car and its beautiful countryside and onto otley and Skipton areas . Yet its 15 minutes in the car the other way and your in leeds city centre , so its rather nice to be near the borders of the country .

So, your daughters both live on their own?
