So, I've lurked here for a while but never really posted. I'm a nineteen year old college student with Aspergers. In all honesty, I've felt an increasing detachment from the term in recent years, but it's still a part of my life; I stim (hand-flapping, mainly), have difficulty maintaining eye contact, am prone to cutting myself off from socialization, and still have periods of intense obsession with my special interests. My username is from the Leonard Cohen song "Famous Blue Raincoat", and if you already knew that then we should get on well.

I suppose the main thing that makes me weary of using the "Aspie" label these days is my primary hobby in life, standup comedy. Obviously, actively trying to make large groups of people laugh seems decidedly "non-Autistic", but I contend that it can be easier than trying to interject myself into traditional conversation (not to mention that my Aspiedom rendered me quite used to talking to myself while people laughed at me). Furthermore, at the risk of sounding like a pretentious twit, humor is a language that I use to connect with people.

Really, I guess I finally decided to post here simply because college is starting back up again soon, and I'd like something of a haven when I start to get anxious/asocial/etc. If there's anything you'd like to know, simply ask.

Technically undeclared, but going for English. May have a last minute employment freakout and change to something else, but that's where I'm going for now.
