A big Aspie hello from London!! (P.S. I'm brand new!)

Hello everyone,

My name is Will, I'm 26 and from London, England.

I found out about Aspergers a week ago having watched an amazing doc on TED about Autism. I haven't been diagnosed yet but for the first time in my life, everything has been explained! I've also told my parents and they instantly see why I have all my foibles. I have an appointment with the doctors on Thursday and look forward to pursuing a diagnosis. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated!

It was hard for me to imagine that I have a social disorder as (under heavy influence of alcohol) I used to run some of the most high end clubs in London's West End and currently DJ for an income (although I find this massively stressful, yet never knew why).

I gave up the clubs after a mega breakdown and now write for film and have just received my first credit for a short film with Michael Madsen from Kill BIll and Reservoir Dogs. I'm also trying to set up an online audition company.

I'm really looking forward to meeting you all in the forum and warmly welcome any questions.

Hi,

American here.. eh.. what are foibles? If you do turn out to be an Aspie I'm pretty impressed so far. I mean.. I can go up on stage and say a speech in front of an audience but I doubt I could do the things you describe. I would pass out or just panic and run away while embarrassing myself or something.

Foibles: A minor weakness or eccentricity in someone's character.

It's a nice way of saying someone's crazy!

It's amazing what a bottle of vodka a night will do for your confidence, and the ability to embarrass oneself! It was a unique set of circumstances (geographic being the main one) that led me into those lines of work. Had it not been for the alcohol I would never have been able to work in clubs as RELATIONS MANAGER (oh the irony!)
