Hello all, I'm new here and I can't say how incredibily greatful I am to be here. I've known for a very, very long time that I wasn't quite "normal" but I've never had the chance to discover why. I won't bore you with all the details, mainly because my life seems to be a carbon copy of a lot of other people here. As sorry as I am to hear all of your stories I am so happy to know I'm not the only one anymore! I hope to get to know all of you and learn more about our uniqueness together...thanks.

I felt much the same way when I first stumbled upon this place not too long ago.
Welcome. :)

Pretty strong gulp of fresh air isn't it  See you can't bore people there, there will always be someone along that is into something or other. It's our right to do so. Sorry? Well I for one am not, I like it. I am sorry for the normals though, I'll do my best to help them over their problem. Enjoy it here, we live, we laugh, we learn and yeah sometimes we cry, but we don't cry alone

It's such a shock to find a site where I see so many traits in others that I thought belonged to me alone. It's very comforting.

Hi Lisa and welcome to WP!

Where in Michigan are you? I lived in Saginaw from 2001 to Jan 2007! Been many times to Bay City, Oxford, Lake Orion, Auburn Hills, up in the thumb and once to Mackinac Island.

Welcome.

"Of crucial consequence is what un-, under-, and misdiagnosis in women mean in the lives of women who are AS and don't know it. One meaning is that they have no way of explaining themselves to themselves, thus no access to the support and positive sense of self they need. And, perhaps more important, more difficult, and more destructive than that, they accept the default explanations for the string of problems, setbacks, and oddities in their experiences and behavior: character weakness, resulting in a vague yet profoundly affecting belief in their own worthlessness."
-- Jean Kearns Miller, "Under-diagnosis in Women", Women From Another Planet?

Welcome Lisa0925, feel free to talk as much as you like.

I, for one, haven't shut up since I worked myself up to my first post (nine months after I joined!).

You should fit right out here.

(That was a pathetic attempt at homour... in NT terms, you have to fir it. Here, it's far better to fit out. We all do.)
