Thought it only polite that I'd introduce myself before taking part in any discussions.
I'm a 40ish old male from the UK.
I have been in & out of the mental health system since I was about 19 due to what I always believed was drug (LSD) induced conditions , I was convinced I developed schizophrenia but have had it confirmed that I don't have it. I always thought I suffered from paranoia but have been told it's anxiety & depression. Being told that I don't have Schizophrenia and have social anxieties has made a big difference to the way I see myself but doesn't explain the difficulties I have. During Autism Week my partner was watching all the programmes on TV and after watching one documentary saw similarities , she then researched Aspergers and she thinks the proverbial penny dropped. I am curruntly on the waiting list to be tested for ASD. I know most of the population have ASD traits and I have been trying to glean information to find out how I tick but I find a lot of information confusing or contradictory. Hopefully by joining this forum I'll find out what's wrong with me or what's not wrong with me. TBH I'm not sure I really want to know.

Thanks.
Is that a general social being friendly question or are you talking "special interests" ?

Both I guess. I'm making conversation by asking you about your special interests.

Well , before I'd even heard of special interests I would of said I have none. I enjoy playing the guitar , bass & drums. I enjoy playing video games ( PC , Xbox & PS3 ). I just asked my GF if she thought I had a special interest and she said having my head glued to a PC. I play all my instruments via PC games and am most content when using a PC. I like building them , I love fixing them, I love digital media manipulation ( photoshop & video editing ) and the jobs I've managed to keep the longest involved using PC's. So I would say PC's are the closest thing I have to a special interest but I have phases where one aspect of PC's takes over and it becomes obsessional and feels like life gets in the way of it. I have been a member of discussion forums before and can become quite addicted to them , I have been banned from most forums for breaking rules because of anger so I try to steer clear of them but felt I needed to join here.

You'll be happy once you know.
You'll be a little like Spock - super human.
We see what the rest do not.
We see possibilties.
We are in a different world.

If we all came and worked together (teamwork right? LOL), imagine the things we could achieve!

To Be Or Not To Be , That is illogical Captain.

I find it hard to admit to anyone that I might see things they don't

Definately feel like I'm in a different world when I'm at my lowest. As for working together , surely this website is an indication of possibilities.

Welcoming/being Welcome, and being asked your special interest on wrongplanet is the non-optional social convention. I'm sorry I love quoting sheldon from big bang theories lines. It's just so quotable.

Welcome.

Being on the waiting list is like many things
Good and bad
The bad part was the time it took to see the counselor I wanted.
The good was finally working with him. 8)

Thanks dude , No need to apologise , I've never watched Big Bang Theories , I've seen a few minutes and know which character is Sheldon.

Thanks , I think the waiting list is around 1 year so it wont be any time soon. Noone has been able to tell me exactly whats wrong with me for 25 years so 1 more year is not that long in the scheme of things although I am an impatient type of person especially when I get stuck on one train of thought. Researching ASD has become a little obsessional for me at the moment. I have so many questions but am a very private person so find it difficult to bear my soul even though its anonomous
