Hello! I have been a long time lurker of the forums. I was diagnosed with autism when I was 4 years old during a time where female diagnosis was still uncommon. I have lived with the knowledge that I have autism all my life. I notice a lot of later diagnoses from other autistic people in my age group.

I'm currently 32, I am married to another autistic person, and I am a mom to a wonderful little fellow. My hobbies are cooking, listening to music, arts and crafts, and watching old anime.

It is nice to meet you all!

Welcome!

What defines "old" anime for you, and why do you prefer it?

While there was anime made in the 1920's by the Ministry of Education in Japan that was super interesting (The one I remember seeing was based off the tale of "The Hare and The Tortoise"), I like the era of the 1960s-1980s of anime. The reason I like it is that after 2000's, I started to see the shift in anime becoming more of quantity production. That doesn't mean that I don't think current anime is horrible, but there was more focus on a series than there is now due to how the media was made.

This month is Lupin the III's 50th anniversary and I am excited to see the work of Monkey Punch inspiring people to make their own stories.

Here's a good sample of what I like: Soichi Terada - Moments of Samples (A 3) on youtube. I can't post links.

I like House and Jazz Lounge. I like the music part itself, not so much for lyrics.

Are you from New York, by any chance? "Excelsior" is one of the mottos of New York State.

Excelsior is also one of Stan Lee's favorite phrases.

I'm from Pennsylvania now, but grew up in North Jersey - my dad's mom and dad lived in NYC as did some of his brothers.

Small world (but I wouldn't want to paint it).

Indeed it is. I like going to Lake Placid. Nice and quiet. I have been to Queens a few years ago, to Astoria. I like the Asian cuisine there and the minimarts. Though the ride on the subway above the city gave me a bit of anxiety, despite it being a neat view.
