hi, I'm new, someone in another forum told me about this place. My name is Christian, I live in Australia, I am a software developer, I play guitar in a band, I love to cook and I read non fiction a lot. I've been married 28 years, and I have two kids, one is diagnosed with autism and ADHD. I am not diagnosed because, despite having plenty of money, there is literally no path to diagnosis for me, but my wife worked in a speech pathology clinic and her boss asked her if she realised I was an aspie. If I do any online test for autism, I will score a yes. If I answer as 15 year old me, I will blow it out of the water, I'll max it out.

Welcome aboard.

There a quite a few Aussies on this site.

If you have been married that long then you must be rather middle aged. And there are many of oldsters here too, some undiagnosed like you, some diagnosed only late in life like me.

thank you. Yes, I am 53, late middle age :) I am interested to know how anyone in Australia got diagnosed late in life. I got a mental health plan to get a diagnosis and was told the doctors had a waiting list that was full, I am on the list to go on the list. This was 18 months ago

Are you aware that you ticked "female" in your profile?
Does that mean you are part of the LGTB community?
As you can see, I am an Aussie, also.

I wouldn't say "quite a few".
I would say "a few".

@ Christian.
And, yes, I am one of those aspies who are pedantic.
No apologies for that.
As an autistic, it is my job. 8)

If you or the admin didn't change it, then I may have confused you with someone else.

I'm glad to read it! (Saying "I'm glad to hear it!" would be technically inaccurate.

I've only been married for 22 years and we have no children...it took us a long time to find each other.

As you've already discovered, there are others here from Australia. But there is a good mix from other areas, too.

Welcome! My dad is Australian, but I’ve lived my whole life in the USA because my mom is from here. Ironically, Tasmania is the only Australian state or territory my dad has never lived in or visited.
