Hello, and greetings to all. I was recently diagnosed with autism late last year, as well as growing up with a documented learning disability. My interests include baking, driving (long, calm drives with no destination in mind...and all day to get there) as well as playing music, writing in my journal(s), learning more about autism, and spending time with my fiancee.

I've read two acclaimed books on autism--Unmasking Autism and 'But you Don't look Autistic by both Devon Price and Bianca Toeps.

I'm considering writing/publishing a memoir as well, but...perhaps it's a work-in-progress.

Are you a musician, or just an appreciator of music?

Hello and welcome! Very cool about the memoir...best wishes on that. And thanks for mentioning those books, I may be keen on checking on those out!

I recommend you the book "The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome".

It's a little bit outdated (because of Asperger's instead of Autism), but it's helpful. It's a book by an Australian psycologist specialized in ASD.

Late diagnosed (35). Currently reading Clem Bestow’s Late Bloomer and Gillian Drew’s Autism: a Guide for the Newly Diagnosed (might not have that exactly right.)
Both authors have ASD. It’s been a weird journey of self reflection, heartache, anger, and excitement all at the same time.

I’ve never met or befriended someone with ASD.
Decided about a year ago I was done with social relationships. Was strongly encouraged to try making a friend on the spectrum since my diagnosis.
Here I am, I suppose. I’m feeling very nervous. 8O
